I was a bit sceptical when I ordered this item because it was quite cheap even after including the postage. However I decided to take a chance as I had an old 2.5" hard disk lying around from an expired laptop.
The item was dispatched promptly by the supplier and arrived in good packaging. On opening the box I was surprised to find that in addition to the black metal enclosure case, also included was a leather pouch to store the case in and a USB connector. The case was easy to open with a catch on the top so there was no need for any screw drivers. Inserting my old IDE hard drive was a breeze and only took a few seconds to snap it into the built in IDE connector. A quick click and the case was shut and ready to use.
Plugged it into the USB port of my WinXP desktop computer and my old hard disk was instantly recognised as a USB device and I had instant access to all of the files on it. Then tried it on my Win7 laptop and again no problems - instant recognition and access to all of the files.
There is an LED at the bottom where the USB wire plugs in and it emits a red light when the drive is not in use to show that the USB case is currently plugged into your computer and that LED changes to a flashing green light when you are transferring files to and from the device.
All in all an excellent product, the black metal case is a nice looking one with a smart USB 2.0 logo in one corner and the free leather pouch to store it in is an added bonus. Would buy more if I had more 2.5" IDE drives lying around. Am very pleased to highly recommend this item as it is excellent value for money. Thanks to this case, I am now the proud owner of the equivalent of a 40 gig USB flash drive that I can use on any computer.

Good thickness of metal body. Decent alignment of internal electronics. Bright data light. Fits together nicely with a reliable catch mechanism. Bought two and would buy more if I needed them. Recommended.

These are basic, simple drive caddy cases, that function well. Don't expect stellar build quality but for the price they are a great solution. I had a drawer full of old IDE drives and those caddies got them back into use. Work great with Mac as well as Windows or Linux systems. The cable provided with each has microUSB on one end and splits to two full USB A ends so you can ensure you get enough power for the drive.

It works!
Now my old IDE hdd 2.5" got new life! Easy installation. Tested on Win7 and WD HD LiveTV (must format as FAT32, so max 32GB hdd, search Google about this). Cheap and fast delivery. Read more

Great for money
This is a well made product and works perfectly. Easy to open and insert your hard disk Installed itself on my Windows 7 PCs as you would expect. Great value and fast delivery
