Wynder K Frog has always been one of my favourite Instrumental artistes from the period, and would often hear Green Door (not on this album) or Dancin Frog, I Feel So Bad at the club weekends away. I already have vinyl copies of the two USA albums (Out Of The Fying Pan and Into The Fire) and although great albums, always wanted to hear the earlier stuff.

Everyone who knows Wynder's back catologue will know the club sounds of Im a Man, Somebody Help Me and the fantastic Incense, all of which are superb instrumentals. The reason for me buying this album (overpriced for what it is ) was I wanted to hear the tracks I hadnt heard or didnt already have, like Hold on Im comin, Shook, Shimmy and Shake and Dont Fight It, all of which were new tracks to me, and all excellent. If you like your organ to be a bit like Touusaint McCall (in your face like - loud and rasping) then this album is a must buy (noticed on Ebay this week June 2011, a vinyl copy is up for bids of £175 not sure if this is the real rarity value, but, makes £13.00 seem reasonable ) I agree with other reviews, more could have been put on the CD to give better value (especially the first single).

The one track I wasnt expecting too much from was one of those tracks you think oh dear , why do this!!! But it is as good as the other tracks (not better but as good)and that was Fats Domino's "Walking To New Orleans" which starts off like the original and then has a massive Organ wig out. Just great.

If your into Instrumentals with the Organ vibe, or just like belting R&B Organ, then this a must, although more expensive than normal, for me it completes my Wynder collection (nearly).

Master of the Hammond B4 organ, Mick Weaver had played with his own band in the mid-sixties mostly playing Student Union gigs and average size clubs etc. He was approached by Island Records to record his organ over a set of instrumental backing tracks produced by top session musicians from New York. The result was a very cohesive union of soulful horns and Weaver honing in on his keyboard skills at every opportunity. Of course there would have been room to include most of the follow up album 'Out of the frying pan' with his regular band or at least his debut single for Island 'Turn on your lovelight/Zooming'. Sometimes compilers have their heads too far into the ground to really see what could have been achieved within the maximum playing time of 80 minutes. There's still some great music here, fine rhythmic instrumentals [no vocals] but it could have offered more, hence it loses one star in the process.
