I bought this guide to accompany the PS2 game. I am a great fan of Strategy guides as I like to have a shot at the game and then explore thoroughly. Unfortunately I find this SSX3 guide lacking in some of the fundamentals of a good game guide.
On the plus side it gives great biographies of the riders and the ride through descriptions are OK. However the maps are abysmal, a sort of colourful helicopter view of the courses with few useful details, they don't even mark the start and finish point of the courses. We spent a happy half hour trying to work out which way up the Happiness course should be. Also the guide has a feel of being put together in a rush as terminology doesn't match the game very well. More info on the locations of collectables would be more useful than some of the padding.
All in all a confusing thumbs down, it's not totally dire but also not as great as it should be.

This guide has excellent strategies for all events on all tracks in the game, if you've bought one of the prima official strategie guides before, you'll know how good they are. This guide covers every aspect of the game completely without leaving anything out.
If you're stuck on any event and just can't get past it, or are trying to find items that you just can't then this guide is for you.

Good images and art work. The walkthroughs are a little sparser than I would like. Don't pay more than $5 total for this.

I bought this game for a friend as well.
He did pay me back for this game.
I never played it so I can't really give you a good review on it.
Sorry!
