I cant believe that this is the same person that wrote 'The hunt for Red October'.
This is just anti-chinese claptrap. Whilst he certainly knows his submarine technology, that is the only positive thing to say about this book.
Clancy is rabidly anti-Chinese and this becomes more and more apparent throughout the book. This isnt the first time he has done this with regards to the Chinese.
This books tells about a American submarine single-handledly wiping out the entire Chinese navy. Dont waste your money or time.

Whilst excellent games can be produced from a book, this goes to show that you can't write a book based on a game - even for someone of Tom Clancy's normally excellent stature. It is truly dire - just a list of actions that take place in the game, with no attempt at any character building.

If you buy this book, you have more money than sense!

This is the first time I have not finished a Clancy book. It is complete nonsense, with no sense of suspense, mystery, or even a half decent plot. I realise that this based on a computer game, but it is nothing more than an American nuclear submarine blowing everything up in its sights, with no story or even a perceived threat to its own existence. Another reviewer made a reference to the poor quality of Clancy books which are 'based on' or 'created by' etc. I agree - stick to the Jack Ryan books and you won't be dissapointed; otherwise, avoid them like the plague. I wouldn't even give this book 1 star, but that choice was not available. The worst book I have read in many years!
