Let's get the negative out first. They leak sound like there is no tomorrow. There. That's it. Some may find the design ugly. I don't. And that is a subjective matter anyway. What I do like is their sound. I am upgrading from an old pair of SR60's (before the i models) and the upgrade is phenomenal. The sound is fuller, clearer, faster and overall very crisp and tight. If your music is well recorded you can be damn sure it will sound fantastic with these cans. If your music is overly compressed (search loudness wars) they actually deal with that as well making the otherwise fatiguing sound more pleasant than most. My old Grados were fully capable of delivering bass when present in the music, but their overall sound was a bit thin. With the 80e the sound definetly has more bass - in a good way. The sound is fuller and warmer without losing Grados signature open, clear, airy sound creating a more homogenuos sound. The stereo perspective is also much wider. Truly a great pair of headphones. Especially considering the price.

Getting better with each listen. I was not sure about these to start with as I thought they were a little bit harsh in the treble but after a few weeks of moderate use they now sound amazing for headphones at this price. They may not be the most attractive headphones in a fashion sense and a few visitors to my house have remarked "what the f...k are those" which has shortly been followed by "WOW" when given a listen. I have owned or tried a lot of headphones at this price and higher and the only ones that come close to these are the Audio technica ath m50x which I also own. I think the grados just about edge it as they are a touch more engaging. These are best used at home due to the long cable and sound leakage, anyone in the same room or even the next will know what you are listening to. With that said if what you want are lively, immersive headphones that make even songs you don't like sound great then buy these you wont regret it. Have read reviews else where saying these are uncomfortable, I can only say these people must have either really large or tiny heads, mine is a standard size and these are very comfortable to wear even for long periods. You will probably enjoy the sound of these so much you will forget you are wearing them.

The new Grado Sr60e is a significative improvement on the previous "i" version. This already good headphone now sounds louder, more extendend and more coherent throughout the frequency range. Always perfectly balanced, the "e" version of the Sr60 gains precision, impact, transparency, (natural) detail, and a bit of soundstage. Not a revolution, but a good evolution. Great work Grado, and good wark amazon.co.uk, good price and lighting fast. The only complain: a very narrow packaging (like a book) without padding, ending in a slightly compressed headphone box.

This is my first 'serious' set of headphones and they are a revelation. I feel like my ears have been scrubbed clean and I'm hearing my music for the first time.
My other headphones are some Eptymotic Research Hf3s (which I use for running), a pair of philips fidelio m1s (for commuting) and some Grado sr60s. Out of these I love the Grado sr60s the most.
I used to have some AKG K450 which were great and really loud, good for commutes and travelling but they made my ears way too hot for long listening so replaced them with the M1s when they died. The M1s aren't as much fun (more laid back sound) but they are very comfy. I went through a few sets of Sleek Audio SA1s which have a great sound for in-ear but the flakey cable drove me mad. I switched those for the hf3s and the sharper sound took some getting used to but I enjoy running in them as they are very light.
However the sr60s have been with me for many years and I always want to use them, but the open backs make them terrible for work (or being around anyone). Well, now I have the luxury of working from home so I bit the bullet and got a serious pair of Grados. The sr325e are incredibly detailed and it's like hearing my music afresh. The M1s are very warm compared to the sr60s but compared to the sr325e they sound like they are caked in mud! It's not a loss of bass more a clarity of everything else. However if bass is everything to you these probably aren't the phones for you.
Not quite used to the donut pads yet, tried switching them with the pads off my sr60s as they feel a little more comfy. The build quality of the sr325e helps get over the cheap plastic vibe of the rest of the sr range but they still come in the cheapest packaging you'll ever see from a premium product. Not followers of the 'unboxing is part of the pleasure' philosophy. But I don't care when they sound as good as they do.
Great headphones.
