Does exactly what it says on the tin. This book is informative, entertaining and interesting which it manages to do without being long-winded, boring and sanctimonious.
An easy read with lots of good accessible reference points which can be used in planning and teaching.

A nice, easy to read guide; ideal for anyone who wants to brush up on their skills. I wanted to refresh my memory before I head back to the classroom and this book was exactly what I was looking for.

This is a truly awful book. It is about 10 years out of date, and so thin in content as to be almost inconsequential. There is very little sound or practical advice afforded and an abundance of unsupported assertion. Some of the methods suggested to teach literacy are laughable. It looks and feels like the author is trying to cash in on the recent emphasis placed on grammar and punctuation in schools. I am really disappointed.
