Book Description

17 Dec 2012
The only thing Beatrice Ball enjoys in life is singing onstage. The rest of the time she may as well be dead. Famous since childhood, her most significant relationship has been with her controlling single mother, who keeps practically everyone else away from her. Restless, Beatrice begins to sneak out in public incognito. When she wakes up in the E.R. to discover her only friend has been murdered during one of their secret forays into New York City, Beatrice’s memory is gone and all traces of her connection to the crime are somehow erased. Days after the murder, her mother gets the entertainment world’s most illustrious impresario to take on Beatrice as a client, thereby initiating her into a rarified circle of stars. Thrown into a whole new level of the game, Beatrice discovers the sickening reality at the core of the entertainment industry. The new expectations placed on her exceed anything she’s had to do in the past, and despite her mother’s best efforts to shield her, Beatrice realizes she must continue her climb to superstardom or face the gravest consequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow - This one is an all nighter 30 Sep 2013
By Kerry M
This is a brilliant read - highly recommended. Its the sort of book that once you start it, you cant put it down. I read all through the night as I was fascinated by the darker side of the music and entertainment industry. There were veiled references to real people in the entertainment world, strong characters and a great storyline. This book would make a great movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comment on Soul'd Out 20 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a modern and timely masterpiece. It is clearly written, very informative in style and the story is truly addictive to read. So many secrets are revealed that it left me gasping. I will never look at the entertainment industry in the same way again. Well done, GE Butler.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't put this book down!!! 19 Dec 2012
By Julie C. Schwarz - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
From the first sentence you are drawn into this engrossing novel. Vivid character descriptions, an insider-like look at the contemporary music industry, and the riveting plot twists of the strong female protagonists make this a must read. Clearly this writer is on the inside track of the entertainment industry, as the portrayal of the base and Bacchanalian lifestyles of musicians and artists is so over the top it can only be real. I, seriously, could not put this book down, I kept sneaking off to read more because I was dying to know more about Beatrice,Tammy, William, Nic and how the whole cast of characters intertwined.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Underground Classic ! 12 May 2014
By Eddie Ocean - Published on
I could have devoured this book in a day, but felt it deserved much more attention. So I read it ( the first time ) over the course of 3 months to really sit with the characters and get a feel for their background, role, and essence. I'm so glad I did because the development of each one as the book progressed got juicier and juicier ! Being somewhat familiar with trauma based mind control and it's disturbing tentacles led me to this novel. For me, the story reflects pop culture's careful orchestration and manipulation to extract as much money as possible, by siphoning God-given talent and reshaping it into "artistry" that defies our morals, all the while indoctrinating the unsuspecting masses into their next "this is what's cool" phase. G.E. Butler weaves a very intricate tapestry into the lives of many players who, despite their self-proclaimed entitlement, eventually have to deal with the concept of being just another pawn in a game they do not understand.
My feeling is that this book is a seed that is carefully placed in the underground and as the reality of our contrived pop culture surfaces the roots of Soul'd Out will take hold deeper and deeper. Years from now this book will be looked at as ahead of it's time and simply waiting for us to catch up in consciousness, hopefully allowing us to conceive of the techniques that forces controlling the multi-billion dollar music industry use in the deepest recesses of it's underbelly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Dark Side look at the Entertainment and Music Industry and its relationship with Good and Evil 8 July 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A different look at the entertainment and Music Industry and its relationship with Good and Evil.
Great backgrounds on the characters, descriptions you can attribute to/match with celebrities you know of, and TV shows you have watched. Its like Rock Star meets Davinci Code meets Cabin in the Woods or Hunger Games meet Big Brother/1984. If you like conspiracy theory stories, this one about the entertainment industry will not let you down. Threads the News Stories we see on the news with the stories of many of our current and past celebrities. It jumps back and forth between characters to give you their backgrounds and their current story. It does have drug use, gory/horrifying elements, and pornographic descriptions in parts of the book. Interesting Read. It jumps right into the story from the very beginning of the book.
