The story is set in South Florida. A make-it-up as you go along,irreverent lawyer with a coterie of fringe clients(including sexy,twin"models",con men;illegal importers of wild birds etc) defends his hapless clients with a series of legal shenanigans that could only be accepted in South Florida.He has no money to speak of,but an adoring nephew who is autistic,and whom he loves and cares for.
Opposite him is an uptight,by the book young prosecutrix,whom he enjoys tormenting with his legal tricks.She finally cracks and ends up in jail for contempt.The story then revolves around a sensational murder trial where they have to work on the same side(as she has been fired for ending up in jail) to defend a young wife who is the prime suspect in the death of her much,much,older husband.
There are many laugh-aloud moments,as Solomon deals with his nephew(who has an amazing ability to say the wrong thing at the most awkward moment);his clients;the police;his sister;his father and of course....Victoria Lord the ex-prosecutrix now working with him most reluctantly .They are at each other's throats constantly,so you just know that they have feelings for each other.

Victoria Lord has never met a man more irritating. The normally put together lawyer sits in a jail cell with a contempt of court ruling all because of Steve Solomon, his taunting, and his ability to get her hopping mad. How dare he give her advice about how to become a better lawyer when he can't keep himself out of jail. A strange twist of fate, one very bizarre murder trial, one custody battle, and a new outlook will either destroy Victoria's career or give her the life she's always wanted. One thing is for sure, Victoria's life is never going to be the same.

Solomon vs. Lord contains a number of sub-stories and mini-plots that add to the brilliance and depth of the main story. The events surrounding the murder trial are downright hilarious yet the characters have to build a case out of almost no evidence which creates a lot of tension and frustration. The side story about Steve's nephew is touching and inspirational despite it's horrific nature showing a side that no one would have guessed that Steve Solomon could possess. Victoria has her own stories and her own issues particularly with her vegetable obsessed fiancée.

I got this book as a freebie and I really enjoyed it. I especially loved the banter between Solomon and Lord and it made me laugh out loud at times. I think I am a little bit in love with Solomon!
