Product Description

Product Description

Description: With "XML Programming For BizTalk Servers," enterprise developers get the work-ready information and tools they need to help their organizations meet the challenge of doing business in 'Internet time'. Author Brian Travis -- a highly regarded XML instructor and solutions developer -- offers expert guidance for building real-world, business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce applications using XML and BizTalk. This practical, code-rich book begins with an overview of XML in the B2B context, including coverage of XSL and industry schemas. Readers then dive into the BizTalk framework for application integration, stepping through the development of a working BizTalk server application. All the book's code is featured on CD-ROM so programmers can see what the syntax looks like and better comprehend the intricacies of implementing BizTalk solutions; the BizTalk JumpStart Kit helps expedite development of their own B2B applications. Case study discussions and a summary of references help round out the reader's understanding of technological and business considerations.

This book starts off superbly. It explains XML and SOAP better than any other way I know. It also quickly clears up the miss-conception that BizTalk is just a Microsoft Server.

The Author starts to let himself down when he asks you to start using client side ActiveX components inside a browser. He fails to point out that these examples will only work in a Microsoft Environment where the MSXML parser is installed.

The Author then goes on to get you excited about Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000, only to then spend 12 pages talking about it and with not one working example.

I feel like I've been told a joke and then been denied hearing the punch line.

If you are a bit confused about this BizTalk "thingy" then this book is the best on the market. If you already have some knowledge then you'll be left hungry.

Good book that brief in general for the document exchange technology. It is suitable for middle management to grasp quick and dirty high level knowledge of technology such as SOAP, XML, XSL, Biztalk, etc.

Examples used in this book, though fully explained, could not be easily understand.

Overall, it's worth the time for reading.

This book fully achieves his purpose of giving a clear, deep and complete vision of all the technologies one must understand in order to use Biztalk Server 2000. It is all about XML and related technologies like XSL, schemas, SOAP and Biztalk. Nobody should consider himself cheated if found that after reading this book he won't be able to implement Biztalk.

The writing style is also clear and pleasat, bringing a really easy way to approach quite arid topics like Biztalk Framework.

In short, I think this is a useful book well worth the time and money spent in reading and buying it.
