WiFi Skype/VOIP phones are in their infancy and this is a good start (hence my four star rating).
It is BIG and the battery life is rubbish, just like the 3G mobile phone I had four years ago, the one I have now is tiny and the battery sometimes lasts a few days so I know things will move on.
It is a shame there is no video, that would make this a must have gaget; there is no text chat either and I think there should be, it is quite normal to text from a mobile phone.
I managed to buy mine when Amazon were only charging 50 quid and I think this phone is worth that sort of money.
The good news is that this phone can automatically update its software so I hope that as the manufacturer understands better how this product should work my user experience will get better, hopefully the first thing they will do is add text chat.
The bad news is that hot spot coverage on my side of town is non existent, again this will improve, but I'm not sure I want to pay 7 quid a month to The Cloud with a 12 month lock-in for what will never be 100% coverage for just voice.
My limited experience roaming between wifi networks has so far been nigh on disasterous (I am assuming this will be improved), once when roaming back into my home wifi network the phone did not connect and the wifi router stopped, not necessarily anything to do with this phone but it has never happened before :).
All the calls I have made have had excellent voice quality at both ends (I have been asking the recipients).
Wifi reception seems good, it finds one more network from my house than my Sony Vaio laptop and the internal walls of my house which are built of bricks with excepionally high iron content do not seems to defeat this phone as they do some devices.
I am glad I bought this product but I am glad I only paid 50 quid.
