Why the SL300?

I am a content creator on YouTube and audio quality is very important, I did purchase a Blue snowball to start off with however it actually broke really fast and there was no contact from Blue to resolve this. I then had to act fast and order a microphone and it was a close call between 3 microphones, The Blue Yeti, Audio Technica AT2020 and the Editors Keys SL300, I cancelled out the Blue Yeti as I was put off Blue after the Snowball and lack of support. I then researched both the AT2020 and the SL300 and I was won over by the SL300. It's cheaper and offered up some more features than the AT2020.

What I think of the Sl300?

Instantly after receiving the product was I impressed with the presentation of the device, It comes in a plastic briefcase with some nice card packaging on the outside, Inside of the case it's fully padded out with nice foam to make sure nothing is damaged, This also provides easy transportation if you ever wish to pack it away after usage for whatever reason.
The audio quality is stunning, Especially with Editors Keys Dual Layer Pop filter, It works like a charm, Easy installation and nothing was really a hassle with the microphone at all.
As stupid as it sounds, I purely love the microphone for its quality look and feel, It's just amazing how much time they have put into thinking about this product, It's heavy and very sturdy so I'll give it 10/10 on build quality! Looks fantastic to have on my desk too which makes it really attractive and nice to use.

Have I had any issues with the SL300?

I have had only one problem since I've owned the SL300 and the issue purely is it doesn't show up on my pc about 2/10 times my PC is turned on.

I really adore this microphone as it produces very high quality audio very well suited to recording female vocals. No problem with setup, simply plug into usb connection on your computer and you're ready to record your masterpiece. Asthestically the mic looks great as it lights up a lovely blue colour when switched on. However the light does serve a practical purpose as it highlights the best area of the mic to sing into in order to achieve the best results. On the technical front this mic is really versatile, it is omnidirectional etc., check out the full specifications. Comes with a smart sturdy padded portable case which is very handy for carrying mic around. For the price the audio quality is exceptionally good and I have no hesitation in recommending this microphone. You will also need to invest in a Digital Audio workstation which is simply a piece of software which allows you to tweek your audio. Audacity is a free programme which will allow you to experiment with manipulating your audio before moving on to a more sophisticated/quality piece of digital software. In my opinion having purchased other mics in similar price ranges e.g., Yeti - this mic knocks the sox off its competitors, as far as sound quality is concerned.

Was searching for a good USB microphone and I stubbed appon an amazing one. It's easily worth the price, one of the best build qualities I have seen and the shock mount is great. The case it came in is unreal, you would expect something of its quality to come in at double the price. The audio itself is outstanding and the features added into the microphone make it even better. Highly recommend for anyone that uses a microphone on pc, I personally use it for long Skype sessions and voice overs on YouTube.

After struggling trying to record a female pop vocal using a Blue Snowball I bought for video voice overs, I realised that the blue was simply not up to the job and my wife who I am recording was starting to think it was a problem with her voice rather than the Mic.

I worked out that a Rode mic with a Scarlett 2i2 usm interface was the way forward but simply did not have £360 to buy that kit and we needed the vocal recorded immediately, so I took a punt on a £99 mic that had some pretty great reviews online.

Well the results have been simply amazing, we now have a professional vocal recording and the mic works so well with my wifes voice I don't think we will be rushing out to upgrade for some time.

Please note this is not perfect, there is a noticeable hum when no sound being recorded but given the all round quality of this mic I have to give it 5 stars for the recording quality, price and ease of set-up.

The only down side was some major cock-up with the delivery but the guys at Editors keys did all they could to resolve the problem at cost to them.

this mic was an amazing purchase - bought for my son - but thoroughly tested by me,

when playing back the recording - I can hear my Twin Brother Talking, which no other mic has managed to do before,
normally when listening back, nobody thinks they sound like that - and I just accepted it as that's how I sound - not anymore.

I haven't knocked this down for having no stand with it, because the mic is worth it - and lets face it - you're going to want another stand that fits your usage.

the only niggle - and so slight - I again haven't knocked it - is the lack of headphone output on the mic, but reviewing against others in the same price bracket - I would rather have an excellent mic - than a cheap one with extras,

For some reason - I find I get a better sound if the mic is Upside down - angled about 35 degrees, but I am sure you will figure out what works for you, also - I was using Audacity and Camtasia
