This is a fantastic goal for small children or families with limited outside space and my 3 and 5 year old are getting lots of use from it. We only have a small garden and this is a perfect size for us. The net is great quality and as it folds up and packs away into it's own bag it's very easy to store. It also has a handy little pouch within the bag for pegs to secure the net in the grass. I am enormously pleased with this item and highly recommend it!

HASH(0xa3048984) out of 5 stars Portable, just like the man says 9 May 2013

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Since this is designed and marketed as a portable soccer goal, let me first address its portability. It folds *very* thin. So thin that I thought the delivery box was empty. The virtually flat box was barely a centimeter thick (less than half an inch), including the cardboard. Unsurprisingly, the goal is also very light. Thankfully (so far), this lightweight design has not compromised its manufacture, though I worry that a child may fold it improperly and thus warp (or break) the fiberglass poles.

The SKLZ Goal-EE is very attractive and, for the most part, equally functional. The only downsides that I see so far are:

First, the goal is so lightweight that kicking a ball into it will move the goal around your lawn. Thankfully, stakes are included (in a hidden pocket inside the carrying case). Admittedly, staking down the goal each time compromises the advertised "quick set up and break down" of this product. This small complaint is in my opinion more than offset by the super slim stored profile of this goal. We plan to keep this in the car along with an extra soccer ball.

Second, folding or unfolding the goal could result in it snapping open, since the folding mechanism is under pressure. So be alert** and keep your face a safe distance back. As well, the folding itself could be slightly counterintuitive to some people, at least until they do it a few times.

Otherwise, enjoy!

** I just noticed that the product card includes this CAUTION: The Goal-EE goal is designed to open and close quickly. Use caution when opening and closing.

HASH(0x9c6e599c) out of 5 stars Poorly made 15 Jun. 2012

This item is a good idea that was poorly thought out. I have had to return the item twice due to breakage during shipping. I used the goals for less than a month (total of three times) and one of the goals broke again during the course of regular play. It is made of poor quality, hollow fiberglass rods which snap easily when flexed.... what did they think was going to happen?? soccer balls weren't going to impact the rods??!! Save yourself the hassle and either buy a different product or stick to full sized goals.

We have three spring type portable goals, and this is my favorite. It is large and sturdy, and my 10 year olds entire soccer team has used it many times. No issues whatsoever, easy to fold up, and goes right back in its compact carrying bag. Absolutely recommend this!

HASH(0x9c83fe88) out of 5 stars Love How Little Space It Takes Up When Folded 20 Jun. 2013

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Our family has three young children who play soccer. However, the nearest park with a permanent goal is 10 to 15 minutes away and like many families with two working parents, every minute of the day is precious. We had purchased a soccer goal for our backyard similar to this one, trying to save some precious time that would have otherwise been spent in the car. While the goal was technically portable, it had a tubular metal frame and did not collapse, it is a pain to store, and while sturdy, the rigidness also caused the goal to tip over anytime the ball went in. So we decided to try the SKLZ Goal-EE Portable Soccer goal.

The SKLZ Goal-EE comes with a quarter circle/pie shaped carrying case with a shoulder strap. When collapsed, the case is 37 inches at its tallest point and 45 inches at its widest point. Collapsed, the case with the goal and stakes inside is only about 1 inch thick. This makes the goal very easy to store as it can be hung in the garage from a peg on the wall or slid behind an object into the smallest of spaces.

While unpacking the goal is very easy, I would suggest carefully watching how the goal unfolds. It did take me a bit of time to figure out how to properly collapse the goal once again.

The carrying case is of a thin nylon type material. The stakes for the goal are quite hidden and fit into a small pocket inside the carrying case. Being a person who normally does not real directions, I was not even aware the goal came with stakes until I heard the metallic rattle when I tried to put the net away the first time. After a little over a month of usage, I can see the carrying case now has some pin holes in it, but does not yet have any signs of tearing.

The goal itself is lightweight and flexible, which is both a bad and a good thing. Obviously the lightweight make the goal extremely portable and easy to handle. The flexibility makes the goal collapsible, easy to handle and transport. The flexibility does add one benefit when compared to my other tubular metal "portable" goal. With my rigid goal, even the youngest child kicking a #3 ball will cause the net to move and skid. The flexibility of this goal absorbs and dissipates some of the energy when a ball is kicked into the goal. The net stayed close to the same spot when the youngest children were using a #3 ball. However, the net began shuffling around with the older child and adults using a heavier #5 ball. A good kick will pull the stakes, which are basically a U shaped piece of metal with no barbs, right out of the ground with the goal.

Overall, I think the SKLZ Goal-EE Portable Goal is an excellent choice for younger children. As I mentioned, it held up well to smaller kids playing with a #3 ball. While it will work fine with the larger balls and with more power behind the kick, be prepared to be resetting the goal quite a bit. I love the small size the goal takes up when collapsed. If you are looking for a small, portable goal for the backyard, I would not hesitate to recommend this one!
