The SKLZ Goal-EE is very attractive and, for the most part, equally functional. The only downsides that I see so far are:
First, the goal is so lightweight that kicking a ball into it will move the goal around your lawn. Thankfully, stakes are included (in a hidden pocket inside the carrying case). Admittedly, staking down the goal each time compromises the advertised "quick set up and break down" of this product. This small complaint is in my opinion more than offset by the super slim stored profile of this goal. We plan to keep this in the car along with an extra soccer ball.
Second, folding or unfolding the goal could result in it snapping open, since the folding mechanism is under pressure. So be alert** and keep your face a safe distance back. As well, the folding itself could be slightly counterintuitive to some people, at least until they do it a few times.
** I just noticed that the product card includes this CAUTION: The Goal-EE goal is designed to open and close quickly. Use caution when opening and closing.
The SKLZ Goal-EE comes with a quarter circle/pie shaped carrying case with a shoulder strap. When collapsed, the case is 37 inches at its tallest point and 45 inches at its widest point. Collapsed, the case with the goal and stakes inside is only about 1 inch thick. This makes the goal very easy to store as it can be hung in the garage from a peg on the wall or slid behind an object into the smallest of spaces.
While unpacking the goal is very easy, I would suggest carefully watching how the goal unfolds. It did take me a bit of time to figure out how to properly collapse the goal once again.
The carrying case is of a thin nylon type material. The stakes for the goal are quite hidden and fit into a small pocket inside the carrying case. Being a person who normally does not real directions, I was not even aware the goal came with stakes until I heard the metallic rattle when I tried to put the net away the first time. After a little over a month of usage, I can see the carrying case now has some pin holes in it, but does not yet have any signs of tearing.
The goal itself is lightweight and flexible, which is both a bad and a good thing. Obviously the lightweight make the goal extremely portable and easy to handle. The flexibility makes the goal collapsible, easy to handle and transport. The flexibility does add one benefit when compared to my other tubular metal "portable" goal. With my rigid goal, even the youngest child kicking a #3 ball will cause the net to move and skid. The flexibility of this goal absorbs and dissipates some of the energy when a ball is kicked into the goal. The net stayed close to the same spot when the youngest children were using a #3 ball. However, the net began shuffling around with the older child and adults using a heavier #5 ball. A good kick will pull the stakes, which are basically a U shaped piece of metal with no barbs, right out of the ground with the goal.
Overall, I think the SKLZ Goal-EE Portable Goal is an excellent choice for younger children. As I mentioned, it held up well to smaller kids playing with a #3 ball. While it will work fine with the larger balls and with more power behind the kick, be prepared to be resetting the goal quite a bit. I love the small size the goal takes up when collapsed. If you are looking for a small, portable goal for the backyard, I would not hesitate to recommend this one!
