5.0 out of 5 stars Patricia Rosemoor's Skin 3 April 2012
By Caront - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Patricia has long been one of my favorite authors. Every other year or so I read Crimson Holiday and Crimson Nightmare during the holidays, they're old favorites. So I was excited when I saw she'd written a new book, SKIN. I just finished it!
When I decided to write a review I asked myself why I liked SKIN so much? Because it wasn't predictable! I hate it when I can figure out fairly soon who the "bad guys" are & what's going to happen. You know, like the girl falling when the evil guy is chasing her. Patricia is not predictable. I guessed three times who the killer was, I was wrong!! And I'm happy I was wrong, I didn't see the ending coming! A good romance/mystery/thriller also has to have characters I like, I really liked Lilith! She was scared, but gutsy, she was strong, but was vulnerable too!
SKIN was scary, fast paced, had grit, romance and an element of "who done it". It's one of those novels that you're afraid to turn the next page, but you just have to! loved it, if I could give it a higher rating than a 5, I would!! Don't miss this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pulled me in from the beginning 26 Nov. 2012
By CFlynn - Published on

The cover shows a pole dancer and is full of steamy, dark images. It sure doesn't mislead because this tale of a serial killer who preys on women from the "gentleman's club" world is just as steamy and dark. A grabber from the beginning, it doesn't let go through all the twists and turns. A can't put it down thriller and a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Skin 3 April 2012
By Nas Dean - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase

SKIN is a murder and investigation story by author Patricia Rosemoor.
Lilith Mitchell leaves home to go away to college after getting a scholarship. But she regrets leaving behind her younger sister to fend for herself. Unable to defend herself from an abusive step father, the younger sister runs away from home.
After Lilith gets a job she spends thousands of dollars trying to search for her sister Hannah. And all the while she mentors teenagers. She also takes self defense classes.

She meets her sister at a gentlemen's club. The sister performs there as Anna. This is the same club that has two of its workers missing and turning up murdered. Lilith tries to convince Hannah/Anna to leave this line of work for its lack of self respect for women and danger. But Anna wouldn't listen to her. She blames Lilith for leaving her alone and going away to college. Then Anna is snatched by the killer. How Lilith would save Anna now?

She dresses up as Anna and goes to work in that club to entice the killer out. Now the killer is after Lilith! The police try to make Lilith leave the amateur sleuthing to the professionals and save her own live. Then her mentee, Cameron is snatched. Now, will Lilith leave the sleuthing to save her own life? And who is Michael, who says he is making a documentary about women in this line of work, titled SKIN? Lilith is attracted to Michael but she fights the attraction as she is warned about him.

SKIN is a thrilling read. It is full of drama, action and danger. With car chases and police stakeouts! Lilith is a strong heroine but Hannah/Anna is full of courage and determination. The author Patricia Rosemoor has packed this thriller with danger, emotional punch and some sizzling scenes as well!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read 18 May 2012
By Maryann Miller - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Lilith Mitchell has never forgotten the little sister she left behind when she went to college to escape an abusive step-father and a mother who didn't seem to care. She thought Hannah would be safe. But she wasn't. So Hannah ran away from home to do god-knows-what and Lilith does not want to contemplate.

Now, some years later, Lilith has a good job as a paralegal and has spent countless hours and countless dollars looking for her sister, only to find her dancing at a gentleman's club.

The sister's have an awkward reunion, but before Lilith can begin rebuilding a relationship with Hannah, the young woman is kidnapped by a killer. This is a particularly nasty killer who enjoys torturing women before turning them loose on his hunting preserve to become his next kill.

After Hannah disappears, Lilith decides to take her place as a dancer in the club to try to draw the killer out. Local law enforcement wants her to leave the investigating to them, but she is determined to do whatever it takes to save her sister. I found this a bit of a convenient plot twist more than something a smart, savvy woman like Lilith would make. Still, both women are strong and courageous, and one can't help but root for them when the danger is high. This is a fast-paced book with a lot of plot twists and action.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book 25 Jan. 2013
By J. Gardner - Published on

The book definitely kept my attention all the way through. Had a great plot...wished there was a little more sizzle or romance. But considering the past of the main characters, I understand why it had the amount it did. It definitely makes me want to read more of her other books.
