I got this as I have problem with my shoulder and did not want to hoof my skis about in the usual way. I thought that if I could carry them like a suitcase with a handle it would be much easier. I got one for my partner as well although her opinion was I have managed for 30years on my shoulder without any problem. I pointed out we used to rub 2 bits of wood together to make fire until Dunill invented a gold plated cigarette lighter.
They take a bit of working out and setting up and I recommend that a few practice runs is helpful. We were in Zermatt which is a poxy place to get about requiring walks up stairs, paths and busses to get to the lifts. I had it fitted when we left the chalet as it was a dangerous walk and it gave me a hand free to hold side rails etc. That was extremely helpful.
I was with a group of 6 that ski flat out so once I had taken the carrier off there was no way to put it back on during the day. Most of us know there are several times when skiing that for one reason or another you end up walking. When you are with a group they are up and gone and there is no time to hook this out your pocket and put it on.
However I could get it back on at the end of the day while waiting for a bus to assist with the walk back to the chalet.
To sum up it works, fits in your pocket, is better than carrying skis on your shoulder and gives you a free hand for safety. But has limited use once you are out on the runs.
