I am a developer by profession, and I have used all the best products out there on the Market today, from Macromedia Dreamweaver, all versions, to Microsoft FrontPage - all versions. As an experienced developer, I have always used both Dreamweaver and FrontPage to create web pages. This is because I know from experience that both have their strong and weak points, therefore I exploit the strong points of both products, switching between them both, to save me precious time in creating web pages. I have bought and used Namo WebEditor 5, but I found that despite the fact that it was a good product, it was still not ready in my estimation to use professionally, as there was no real support for CSS - which was its real let down. Also, the preview on the editor on some occasions would not render the web page properly, so that would mean having to preview a web page in Internet Explorer, Netscape and Firefox - even though you are supposed to do this always. There were other problems encountered, with unexpected crashing and hanging, whilst its built in intellisense functions sometimes caused more problems than they solved. When I read reviews of this new product, Namo WebEditor 2006, most were not exactly flattering, and after careful and deliberate scrutiny, I decided to listen to the positive recommendations and buy this product, and, I can tell you, I was not disapointed. What is so exciting about this product is that the creators have completly rewritten the Editor. And, they have done it in such a way, so that if you are familiar with using Dreamweaver and FrontPage, you will see that they have brought the best of these web software products together into one package. This means for you that all the advantages and strengths of both of these products are now at your fingertips. This product is vastly superior to all its previous versions, and it certainly holds its own against the likes of Dreamweaver and FrontPage. The only thing that I can think of that still needs some improvement is its CSS support, but what they have given you is reasonable for most developers, and it seems like there could be promising improvements to this in the next version to come, (we will see). Unfortunately, Namo have never been good with product support, so if you expect to get any, well, this is not the company for you, as it is non-existent - though they do provide a forum where developers help each other out. With this product you get an image editor, which is reasonably adequate, but not for professionals like myself, plus an gif creator and an image slicer. I have not used these last two products as I am still used to using PhotoShop or PhotoImpact for doing these, but I can comfortably say that you no longer have to buy Dreamweaver and FrontPage any more to create web pages. Just buy this product and you will instantly have the best of them both. I have given this product a 4 star rating. This is because they need to continue to improve the CSS support.
