I bought the 2nd edition of this book back in 2004 and the technical content is superb, by far the best of several SIP books I purchased at the time. I used the book extensively while implementing a back-to-back user agent for an embedded system.
I did however have serious problems with the binding of the book, with pages falling out almost immediately. Within a few weeks I had to keep a pot of glue with the book in order to glue pages back in as they fell out despite being extremely careful with it and treating it like an ancient manuscript.
I have since looked around on the Internet and discovered that other people have had the same problem with other books from Artech House.
Considering the price I paid for the book (over £60) this is not really acceptable and is the main reason I am reluctant to "upgrade" to the third edition and will probably deter me from buying any further books published by Artech House.
So, in summary: A great book technically, but keep a pot of glue handy to fix it as it falls apart...
