Product Description

What happens when a Rangers fan and Celtic fan are locked in a prison cell together on the day of an Old Firm Match? It is through Billy and Tim that Des Dillon explores sectarianism, bigotry, how it becomes part of one's identity and is inculcated by family and society. However, the book is not limited to Scotland but refers to every peace process in the world, where common ground and a shared humanity is found through responding to the needs of others. Now it is up to these two fans to start their personal peace process to find some common ground to slowly let go of their bigotry.

This is a terrific book for getting across the point that sectarianism is futile. The jokes and humour throughout will have either 'side' in kinks of laughter, Des Dillon is extremely clever in touching every point of arguement that comes up in typical Old Firm (Rangers and Celtic) banter. The language , as noted clearly, is strong, but it is totally appropriate for the subject matter. Extremely funny throughout, it has a serious side in the plight of the warden's family, and who has the honerous task of looking after the two supporters who have not made it to the Old Firm game and are throwing tantrums left, right and centre. A super book, expertly written, which sees both sides of religion very clearly with regard to the two teams the lads support. A great read for all, who either support one of the teams or know of those who do - will enjoy and talk about for a long time to come ...
