4.0 out of 5 stars Good shoe for cycle commute 7 Nov 2012
By swl10
Colour Name:Black| Size Name:7 UK|Verified Purchase
If you are looking for a cycle shoe that is passable as a black shoe to wear on a commute with 'normal' clothes this is just about as close as it gets (most shoes have more garish designs). I wore the previous model for many years with only slight problems with the velcro coming unstuck from the straps (which was fixable). This one looks like an improvement with a change of design, 3 straps instead of 2. This also makes them more comfortable in my opinion.

The clearance on the cleat is a little tight (the tread is not as deep as other shoes I've worn) and on my first few trips commuting on train/tube I did notice a little more wear on the cleat than I'd expect from a brand-new shoe.

The material on the shoe is well ventilated so you'll feel comfortable in the summer but need to wrap up warm or use overshoes in colder weather.

4.0 out of 5 stars A best buy 25 Feb 2011
By Arne B. Boberg - Published on
My son and I have very high insteps and cannot use any buckle-type Sidi cycling shoes - the straps are just not long enough. Apparantly, Sidi offers a strap extender, but the bike shop I was at did not have them. However, this three-strap velcro Giau does everything we need for racing and touring, but at a very affordable price. It is a very high quality shoe and is extremely durable. It seems to be just as durable as my old Dominators (laces with velcro splashguard) that I finally discarded after 20 years of use. I highly recommend this product for any kind of off-road use. The only downside is that the receptacle plate will rust through in one season if exposed to salt. It appears that the metal is not stainless nor protected with any kind of plating. Since it is difficult to access this plate to clean it, I would recommend buying some spares and replacing them periodically.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, robust, easy to use 14 Nov 2011

Good quality, robust, comfortable, easy to hop in and out of the shoes and still has a good/ tight fit. Had it for two years now, with no issues. The locking bracket is offset in by the shoe design, makes it easy to walk without making the shoe bulky.
