The book seems to expose the pressures forced on members of the authoritarian and secretive Exclusive Brethren led by James Taylor Junior. One might wonder whether the Exclusive Brethren teaching is as bad as the book suggests. Sadly, all that is written corresponds with my own experiences. The positive thread running through the book is the way 'Sarah's' relationship with the Lord is seen to grow and how he answered her prayers. For readers living near or working with members of the Exclusive Brethren, this book will provide an excellent insight into the background of these people, many of whom are sincere Christians. It may also be helpful to place a copy in the hands of a former member. Read the book and pray for God's guidance as to whether it is appropriate to give a copy to someone who is still in the movement and also remember that our all-wise God does not always rescue whole families.

And author Marion Field believes the only way Taylorite members will hear about the book is for it to be banned by Brethren leaders. She said: "They know it has been published and are not happy. Hopefully, younger members who are having doubts will find strength in the story. It proves that you can break away from the group."

eyeopening account of exclusives and their legacy of fear,

I read this for the first time last night unable to put it down. I lived within this cult for 17 years of my life until I escaped and was severly ostracized. I am now 51 yrs of age and still struggling with some of the issues of growing up in this confining, guilt ridden cult.

I actually work as a tutor in a Brethren school and found this book answered a lot of the questions I'd had but been unable to ask. It was an extremely good read and as I got hooked, so did my 11 year old daughter, then my mother-in-law, sister-in-law etc!! The style is very user-friendly and we found it very difficult to put down. A real must-read for those curious about the ladies in headscarves with long hair that you see around town!

As an Ex member of the Exclusive Brethren, I found this book so true and quite upsetting (in a nice way) at times, as it made me realise the hurt I'd been through in my teens! Once you start this book you CAN NOT put it down! Excellent
