In coming back into shooting this book was recommended by my coach. It is all inspiring, a true insight to the dedication required to reach your dream goal. Written in a way that both the young and not so young can take inspiration from it. You will question at the end whether you can both commit the time to reaching greatness, spend the time fighting against the governing bodies that are apparently there for you, and acceptance that life doesn't always deliver what you think it should on the day when you feel you have covered all bases. I hope it inspires many more people to take up the sport and rise to the challenge of achieving Olympic gold. Thank you Abhinav.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quest for Perfection 9 Jan. 2012
By Mehul Shah - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book is probably the best sports biography ever written. It gives an outstanding insight into the sport that is hardly known. And it could be a book on sports psychology by itself. But at the end, you will be blown away by Abhinav's single-minded pursuit of excellence. Rohit Brijnath's outstanding writing skills and Abhinav's inner voice make this a fascinating read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ for athletes. 13 Aug. 2014

As a former marksman of the Brazilian Rifle Team, I had the opportunity to compete and see Abhinav Bindra performing in his path of his goal. Good history for athletes, coaches, mentors and sports fans if they are interested in such kind of sport drama and a MUST READ for Olympic shooters that can feel through this book how hard was this journey to Olympíc Gold, mainly because the issues related to the lack of official and cultural structure of shooting sport in India, witch is very similar to Brazilian and very different from US, China, Russia and european contries where Olympic sport is a big tradition. The gold medal he won at Beijing Olympics 2008 gave him a "free pass to sincerity" to write down all of his strenghts and weaknesses

5.0 out of 5 stars Discipline, endless training, and the thoughs and dreams of an athlete. 20 Jan. 2014
By Bruce D. Thomson - Published on

One of the best shooting books I have read. This book is not about technique, the rifle, or methodology, but the pursuit of perfection through the disciple of rifle shooting. The books and the story shows what it takes to be on the Olympic Podium. Successes, followed by failure, the emotional roller coaster of competition. Mental concentration is the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful book 25 Jan. 2014
By chaosweb - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The author is a world-class smallbore rifle competitor who has won an Olympic Gold medal. He is brutally honest in describing himself and the psychological forces that drive him and how he perceives the competition as a battle with himself. A very insightful look into the thought process and mental discipline of an individual sport Olympic champion.
