Product Description

CD Description

A brand new studio album from one of the most accomplished acoustic guitarist this country has produced. GORDON GILTRAP has a career stretching back the late 60's and over the years there has been a resurgence of interest in his music with much of his catalogue re issued. Gordon s work leans more to classical than rock. He is joined by old friend and long time collaborator RICK WAKEMEN and is touring extensively in the UK throughout MAY/JUNE and JULY to promote this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden Morn From Golden Oldie 13 May 2010
Format:Audio CD
Gordon Giltrap is not the most aggressively self-promoting of musicians, but over the course of four decades has quietly built up a reputation as a musician of awesome playing technique and tunefulness. 'Shining Morn' is the umpteenth, and latest example of the man's music, with a generous running time and truly breathtaking cross-section of musical styles. There is much to admire and enjoy in this album, and the moods shift from sun-dappled beauty to more strident and sharper sounds. Gordon doesn't know how to make a bad record, and 'Shining Morn', plus the superb Edsel reissues are welcome additions to the man's absorbing and hugely enjoyable body of work. Why isn't GG as lauded as (his hero) Bert Jansch of John Renbourn? Maybe he's just too modest!

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden Giltrap 23 April 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Another lovely album by a true master of the guitar. Gordon has continued to make quality music for years and is still at it, both in the recording studio and with live performances. If you haven't visited his website yet, you should, for more examples of his music and to get a sense of what a modest, yet really talented musician he is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful compositions 10 Oct 2010
Format:Audio CD
This is an excellent album full of very beautiful music.
Yes Gordon is an outstanding guitarist but more important than that is that he is a very, very good composer. There are some absolutely lovely pieces of music on this album which should last forever. Without sounding too morbid I sincerely hope that in fifty years time there will be a guitarist in a concert hall somewhere playing Gordon's music; ensuring that new people will always be able to discover his achievements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's Gordon ! Shining again 17 Sep 2010
Format:Audio CD
The uber-cool may not namedrop Gordon Giltrap but his work is maddingly difficult not to like. There's exquisite technique, playful invention, an Arcadian heart but mainly, like this set demonstrates, a bagful of memorable tunes.
