Product Description

Instructions: SATELLITE FINDER OPERATION: 1: Switch the satellite receiver on, the digital SATFINDER will turn on by itself. 2: Set your dish to the proper azimuth and elevation settings. (The information should be supplied with your satellite dish). 3: Adjust the knob until the signal strength display at 0% (the critical point). 4: Peak the signal by slowly moving the azimuth and elevation of your dish. The higher values, the better signal. If the digital SATFINDER's reading becomes full scale, you can adjust the "◀ATT" to reduce the incoming signal to a lower level. Continue to move the dish until you have the highest possible meter reading and the highest possible buzzer pitch. 5: Remove the jumper cable and digital SATFINDER, and reconnect the LNB/ LNBF to your receiver.

I live in Germany, and have needed to increase the size of my dish to 80cm after the recent change to the Astra Satellite transponders, and the resultant reduction of the signal strength in southern Germany. Therefore I was looking forward to receiving the Satfinder. I decided first to do a quick test on the existing dish (which turned out to be a good decision) before swapping dishes and starting the re-alignment process. Therefore I had an existing working setup with a signal strength give as 75% on my Humax Freesat receiver (Quality 85%), before inserting the Satfinder.

I climbed up on the roof, and eagerly started to attach the Satfinder. I firstly disconnected one of the quad coax cables from the LNB, and connected this cable to the "receiver" input on the finder. I then attached a self-made jumper Coax cable from the "Satellite" F-connector on the finder to the LNB. The unit powered up...but somehow didn't look correct. There were characters on the display which shouldn't have been there (a row of "n")....and nothing seemed to work. I disconnected the "receiver" input..and tried again. This is where a big disadvantage seems to evident. Since the receiver is on (as I am not going to down 3 storeys to power up the receiver once connected) the Satfinder does not power up correctly when you attached the cable. The internal microprocessor seems to have no proper power-up sequencing, and often crashes.

After about 10 attempts...it seemed to power up ok with the signal amplitude being displayed as 99%, and the buzzer on quite loud. I pressed the "Att" button to reduce the reading and arrived (I think) at 69%. I was then going to try to nudge the dish and see if I could move through the maximum position of elevation and azimuth.

i had got a cheaper sat finder that came with my sat box but found it gave out the wrong config ,so you be in and out up and down the ladder.so i had a look online and found this one the sf.95dr. due to the fact that i live on top of a mountain were the wind is crazy iv been out fixing the sat dish a few times the last month, i found the above sat finder is easy to use ,it finds the sat signal in secs and very handy in the dark with its blue led light which lights up as you see in the picture, if you are looking for a sat finder thats cheap and can do the job id get this you cant go wrong, cheers paul in dublin

Excellent Fine Tuning Device, I surely gave it a five star plus.
It's what I call the Bang for the buck !!

Surely an item to go for for beginners or home use.

It bleeps, but it can't tell one satellite from another. Result: I got tuned to a German satellite. I thought of giving up and learning German, but had a better idea. I used my receiver's setup screen to show signal strength and quality, and successfully found the correct satellite.
No need for this gadget!

A good basic tool, and simple to use, for finding the satellite signal, and I was able to find it within 10 minutes, and obtain some channels.. However, it may not be sensitive enough for those living on the margins of the satellite range (southern France/Spain) for UK terrestrial channels abroad, where dish position is very sensitive. I needed a technician with a slightly more sensitive signal finder to fine tune my dish position, but it only took them 5 minutes as this simple devise had done 95% of the work..

I bought this signal finder as I thought it would be easier than my existing signal finder. It worked ok but I still have difficulty in getting a perfect signal. The finder said it was at 99% strength but the picture was still not that good on some channels. Don't know if it is me or the finder. It was well priced and packaged and arrived on time.
