Seeking Wisdom On a Ten Minute Tea Break is a novel, a story of discovery, a story of one person's search for meaning. It is a search to uncover who and what we are, our place and our purpose. Set in the context of a journey around Europe, Canada and America the book's main aim is to deliver a philosophical, psychological and spiritual debate within the overall adventure of a backpacker's first trip abroad. From a job in a factory to the freedom of the open road the story looks at different aspects of human nature.
Travelling through magnificent scenery, impressive cities and differing cultures the traveller begins to discover, not surprisingly, that the world is a far bigger place that previously perceived; a far bigger place than the world he left behind.
Insights and realisations uncovered begin to be discussed. Questions are asked and answers proposed and using an emerging interest for poetry the traveller attempts to express these new ideas in a series of poems that punctuate the story at regular intervals.
The book, a mixture of travel, exploration, debate and poetry is, hopefully, one that offers the reader a glimpse into a world where sightseeing and self-discovery mix, where grand vistas and new ideas are revealed and where a world of challenging questions create a search for answers. Seeking Wisdom is a story that shares the belief that only when borders, boundaries and barriers are crossed will that which lies beyond be revealed.
Seeking Wisdom though is not a factual travelogue or guidebook. It is a fictional narrative told through a fictional character and simply aims to share ideas and beliefs. Seeking Wisdom, in the beginning, asks the question ........ What is the meaning of life? By the end of the book an answer is proposed. It is one that took me quite some time to uncover but it is one that will hopefully inspire us all.
