I bought this card because my previous (1GB) card broke (not San Disk): the seams of the plastic cover split, so I decided to invest in a 2BG card and chose the San Disk due to the good ratings of their products and the built-in USB adaptor (no seperate parts to lose). The USB function has already helped me out greatly! My work computer will not read the card via its card slot (due to administrator rights), but the USB can be plugged in and is recognised just like any other device. Brilliant! I recommend it highly.

I don't see many of these and yet it is such a good idea. No need for a card reader at all, just fold it in half and plug it in to the USB port. It even has a little green light when it is in use. Superb! This is the second one I have bought.

Bought this 2 gb usb/sd memory card in Thailand for about £11. Have used it for several months in my Canon Ixus 800 camera, with great, high-speed results. When visiting my parents in France they did not have a sd card reader, so I used the usb function to 'drop' the photos & videos on their computer. The video function works really well; high speed write-to-card etc.

I've recently started using a combination of a Doxie Go scanner and Evernote, in an attempt to get a bit more organised. The basic idea is to scan every bit of paper as it comes in (payslips, insurance, receipts etc), upload it to Evernote so I've got easy access to it if needed, and stick the originals in the loft out of the way.

The combination of the Doxie Go, Evernote and this memory card makes it really simple - I can keep the scanner in the lounge, where it's within easy reach whenever I need to scan anything. Then once a week (or whenever I get time) I can remove this card and slot it in my laptop's USB port and transfer the scans. It works perfectly - flip up and fold over the end of the card to expose the USB plug, stick it in a USB port and away you go. No need for USB cables, no need for a card reader - couldn't be easier. There's even a small LED so you know when the card is connected and in use.

The convenience does come at a price, though - this card is at least twice as expensive as what you'd expect to pay for a decent non-USB version.

The only negative aspect - and this is entirely Amazon's fault, which is why I haven't marked the card down - is that the packaging was virtually non-existent. The bare card (no plastic case, no blister pack - just the card itself) was in a small plastic bag, and that's what was inside the Amazon envelope. As usual, Citylink (or Amazon's warehouse staff) had trodden on the package a few times - two different bootprints were on both sides of the envelope - but the card seems to have come through unscathed.

I'm rarely moved to review my purchases, but this SD card is something else - sadly, limited availability makes me suspicious than Sandisk may be taking it out of production...?

Why do I rate it so highly? Well, the family have settled on SD cards as their memory card of choice in the various cameras, camcorders and PDA's around the place, but when it comes to downloading pictures onto laptops or PC's, who can be bothered with all the faff of digging out a USB-to-microUSB cable or a USB card reader? Even more so when you're away from home and somebody says "can I have a copy of those pictures" or "can we look at them on the big screen". The simplicity of pulling the SD card from the camera, "snapping" it in half and plugging it into the USB socket of any computer just can't be beaten. Add to that Sandisks usual speed and reliability and you have the perfect SD card for cameras...

I've had two of these break on me. For two different reasons. The first one after the casing around the hinge split. The replacement just died the other day. Won't work in a USB port. Now I don't use these very often and when I'm not using them they sit in a protective case, so they're well looked after.

So, they're great while they work. But unlike a regular sd card, which can last years and survive a nail put through it, these will die one day. Randomly. Ironically, they both still worked as SD cards, but I didn't pay extra just for that.

I bought this card to use in my digital photo frame as I am fed up with my old card reader popping up with an error code when it is loading pictures from my computer on to my other SD cards. I put the card into the USB port on my Macbook and loaded a file containing 935 photos, it all took around a 3 mins, and no error codes. The card is now in the photo frame and the pictures are playing fine. I can see myself ordering another card very soon.
