Samsung ue46c7000,
This review is from: SAMSUNG UE46C7000 3D READY LED TELEVISION
Firstly, I am not the most techie person in the world but after buying a plasma tv for £2000 the month before HD was announced then I knew that I would take my time when it was time to upgrade my TV in our living room.
After researching many different options including the basic LCD version of the Samsung 3D and the 50" plasma I decided to hunt down one of these as well just so that I could compare all products like for like. This unit was head and shoulders above the other two. This TV is superb in every way (at least in what I have found so far.) after taking delivery late last week it stayed in its box for three hours till my curiousity got the better of me and I had to take it out of the box. Before even switching the unit on I was thoroughly impressed, if a TV can be beautiful then this is it, a high gloss screen finish combined with the four pronged stand and touch buttons for volume/power etc make this truly stand out, especially considering the 20mm thickness on the screen. The set up was also remarkably easy, attach the stand, plug in the scart and aerial attachments plug in all your standard leads and HDMI cables and away you go, the TV will follow the setup and autotune for all available channels. You are then free to watch away. The standard settings are not optimum for the set but these will vary dependant on where your set is placed, mine is on a stand next to the main window so settings needed adjusting due to glare. Various calibration settings can be found on AVforums webpage. Once set up correctly the black are eerily dark in comparison to my old plasma and colours are eye catchingly bright. The internal HD function works brilliantly and gives you BBC/ITV3/C4 HD without having to purchase SKY, although I am wtg for my HD box to come to get the SKY 3D channel that begins on the 1st Oct. The 2D to 3D conversion was something that I was a little dubious about but after watching bits of Transformers and Pearl Harbour can confirm that this does indeed work. It is different to standard 3D content in that the depth is away from the screen rather than coming out so it is not as effective but it does add to the experience. Haven't tested either proper 3D or the internet function as yet but will update my review when i do (especially in realtion to the ghosting issue) but the standard features on this TV alone make it worth its price. Even the sound qulaity is pretty good, granted it is not perfect but with a set that is less than one inch wide that is not never going to happen. One tip on the pricing, after looking about I bought from a reputable high street store which has a price match. This gave me a 46" set with 5yr warranty,5900 blu ray player and 3D glasses for less than £1450. There are great deals to be had on these sets at the moment and you wouldn't be disappointed in your purchase.

Samsung UE46C7000XKX 46" Full 1080p HD 3D LED TV,

I have just bought a Samsung UE46C7000XKX 46" Full 1080p HD 3D LED TV and Samsung HT-C6930W 3D 7.1 ch Channel Blu-ray Home Cinema System with specs and free 3D blu-ray package. Notes:
1. There are several light patches on the TV screen, only visible during dark scenes - what people call "backlighting" or "spotlights" from the backlit LED's. I only noticed them after reading reviews and note that other people have returned their sets because they consider this to be a fault. Now I'm becoming obsessive about them, thinking they are getting larger, when the reality is that they probably do not detract from the visual experience. 2. The bluray player makes a hell of a racket. Not when playing a DVD, admittedly, but when performing most other functions. 3. Several accessories are required in addition to the TV and home cinema system: i. A digital optical lead is required to play audio back from the TV to the home cinema system. ii. A wireless dongle is required to access internet (or CAT5 / ethernet cable). iii. An HDMI cable is required to connect home cinema system to TV. 4. Wireless speakers are not wireless. Everything is wired with the exception of the rear surround speakers, which themselves are wired to a wireless unit. Confused? Exactly. It is, in fact, easy enough to setup. But one does have to question the logic. 5. Excellent streaming from Lovefilm and BBC iplayer. This is much more stable and in higher definition than we previously had using a wireless laptop plugged into our last Samsung telly. 6. The TV and home cinema combination is both visually and audibly outstanding. The 3D really does work. 7. All Samsung 3D glasses (we have 2 x 2100AB and 2 x kids) are massive and will not stay on children's heads. They need tying around the back. 8. The technology vs. price is quite good. Like anything in life you get what you pay for. I do find Samsung products quite plasticky with too many neon lights. Although I admit I am quite old fashioned...

3d ghosting galore,
By
This review is from: SAMSUNG UE46C7000 3D READY LED TELEVISION
Hello Amazonauts,
I bought UE46C7000 TV here in Portugal. Here's my thoughts: The TV has glare levels above what I had imagined in LED TV's (and they were not visible on the store, 'cos of ambient light; see ahead); also, there must be 4 lamps, one on each corner, and on darker scenes with no ambient light in the room the display shows some sort of cone lights directed to the centre of the display. Disappointing, although not the reason to reject this TV. Otherwise, the picture is crisp and there are a ton of settings with which to fiddle for picture control; though it won't remove the 'cones', nor the slight glare. Now, the 3D, which is the main reason you are reading this: DISAPPOINTING. This TV is not too fit for 3D viewing, probably because it's only 200Hz (low for 3D). Why? Simply because there is a noticeable ghosting effect: you will see transparent 'shadows' out of objects' edges! Spoils the fun, spoils the effect and I hate it. I'm trying to return the TV to the retailer, though I'll probably be out of luck... (*Update*: I managed to return it). This problem does not get corrected with the TV's menus; you will see the ghosting on some point of the 3D viewing... Also, trying to download updates to the TV's software is a huge pain! The TV software update is more or less 100MB big, but the site downloads it at like 4KB/sec, and so you will get roughly 4 hours time to download it and with the absurd download time, there is a very high chance the download fails (after 2 or 3 hours!) and back to the pain. Summing up: very good, but not remarkable 2D performance, great remote, great menus for TV tune up, *bad* 3D performance, appaling download rate of software for the TV. In a word: avoid. Avoid, that is, if you want to use it for 3D viewing, but then, why buying it if it isn't for that?? You have plenty of 2D TV's on the market with the same or better performance, cheaper (sometimes a lot cheaper, as in plasmas that have great 2D image!), and not needing the pricey 3D glasses (the TV came with one pair, but no 3D movie). Any more users have thoughts to share on reviews or a topic over this TV? 'Cos I don't like this baby at all...
