For those wondering about the noise of this drive - it's very quiet. It's just as silent as my old WD 640GB AAKS, and that was pretty dead silent. Noise is definitely a non-issue. And as far as performance is concerned, you WILL notice a difference.

The only caveat is minor and is related to the placement of the chips under the drive, but that is true for all drives except the Western Digital ones. By placing them on the outer side, they cool faster but it also means you need to handle the drive with a lot more care not to damage them.

Great drive, seems to be fine on my machine

Initial problem with the install being that I didn't have a spare SATA data cable (should have checked the machine, a dell, as made an assumption that there would be a spare cable - the power cable was there but no data cable - used to be quite normal to find a number of spare cables but clearly this is no longer the case). So definitely a good idea to check before purchasing! After finding a data cable, and re-starting the machine and doing through the F2 setup on my machine, the drive was not initially recognized by windows Vista: used a partition manager to select the drive and format the disk - now sits happily as a F: drive on PC.

Seems to be very responsive. Bought it on the recommendation of the latest issue of PC Pro. There is a very slight clicking noise with the disk, hardly noticeable

I bought this drive to replace a failed WD drive of same capacity. I have not benchmarked it in a scientific way,so further judgement is subjective, but the performace is good and the drive is very quiet. I based my purchase decision on various Web reviews, the good cache size, and the price point was fine. Installation is simple (like all SATA drives). My drive didn't come with any cloning/migration software and I used a copy of Paragon Partition Manager to transfer the system (from the drive prior to the WD drive).
