I rate NOFX higher than any other band I've had the fortune of listening to BUT this is not the best album. I have to make that perfectly clear because I hate to think of millions of people rushing off to buy this album only to be thourouly dissapointed and never listen to them from that day onwards. Even the first time I heard the album I wasn't too impressed but now it has grown to be one of my favourites. When listening to this CD you have to keep in mind that it was made in the early 80s and they had a lot to learn as a band.
Being NOFX however, this album does have its high points, and a lot of them at that! The song "you drink you drive you spill" has to be a classic to all beer drinkers everywhere! And the title track "s+m airlines" has an amazing catchy intro that is enough to show anyone what a great band they were destined to become.
Lyrically this is a fantastic album, Fat Mike being a fun writer, especially with his puns and play on words (such as drug free america being a song about drugs being free!)
Its a good album, however cringeworthy fat mike' voice sounds on "vanilla sex"! It is all made up by his bass playing, and with eric on guitar and erik on drums, NOFX are a combination that just cant go wrong.

This is old school hardcore at his height! Great lyrics, very funny too, combined with awesome guitar riffs and impeccable fast 'n' steady drumming.

this album came out in 1989 and not the early eighties as one review claims,s&m airlines came out the same time as bad religions "no control"(2 classics).i can not agree with anybody who says the tracks are tame because they were only just starting out.the album liberal animation was out over a year before this one.the really early stuff on the cd maximum rocknroll is basic, but still punk.just have a listen to the title track "s&m airlines"....its a classic, dual guitars riffs everywhere, its good enough to be on any nofx album, pity fat mike dont write things like that anymore,

L.a.'s oldest teenagers making one of the most original and best punk you can listen to. Want music to relieve your riotuos teenage self in you can with this punk riot type CD although without the livliness of "I heard They Suck Live" if you liked any of their of other albums this has everything and more. With the talents of hefe Erik Ghint and the rest you will love the original lyrics, you will love an evolved NoFx with tracks like "You Drink You Drive You spill" a fear of losing the valuable thirst quenching woman magnet that is alcohol.
