Book Description

1 Aug 2011
In this passionate epic told from many angles, the young outlaw Amar becomes a dreaded warlord, the terror of kings. His ambitions blind him to the trivial diversions of mere female company until he must block a treaty marriage between two powerful tribes. Confronted by the desperate Princess Demeda, he feels temptation again, but the longings of his ruined heart cannot overcome his pure love for Onja. She is a mysterious outcast from the magical rys race that is oppressed by the tabre of Nufal. Onja has commanded Amar to dominate the humans of Gyhwen while she plots to overthrow her tabre masters. To support her cause, she seduces Dacian, a prodigy among rys who hopes to win equality for their race nonviolently. While a rys rebellion secretly brews, the human minions of the tabre battle pillaging savages. The young estate lord Cruce Chenomet joins the fight. Violent trials and sensual surprises break the trail on his journey to manhood. Packed with primitive energy and complex motivations, the intertwining stories and rising stakes of this fantasy world will indulge your cravings for intrigue, bravery, passion, and freedom.

About the Author

I've always written stories. When I was a kid I wrote stories and drew pictures for them and stapled them together to make books. My mother recently showed me one of these little books apparently based on my older brother's Dungeons & Dragons gaming. When I was 14 I wrote a sci fi novel. When I was 15 I wrote a fantasy novel. I set them aside and never looked at them again. Then I grew up and had some adventures and became disillusioned about most everything except my dream of being a novelist. In 1997 at the age of 25 I started writing again. Now it's 2012 and I am working on my eighth novel. No publisher was ever interested in me. I stopped beating my head on that door in 2004. But rejection from people who would never care about my dream only emboldened me. I began self publishing my fantasy fiction in 2005. That was before being an indie author was cool. Despite relentless obscurity and general disrespect, I was always encouraged by a steady trickle of sales and the occasional kind comment from a reader. To be honest, being a novelist is always a struggle. I get criticized in public and don't get called by any movie producers, but also every day someone somewhere buys my novels and that amazes me. I'm humbled by my readers. I will always do my best to craft stories worthy of them. I love the stories I write, and sometimes other people like them too. I'm having a good dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rys Rising:Book I 17 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although my comments are repetitive as I have read all of her books, Tracy Falbe is a fabulous writer; she has a way of making the characters real to the reader. The storylines are believable and the intrigue of what is coming next makes it difficult to put the book down until the end. The only disappointment exists until you get on to her next book. A writer not to be missed

Stumbled upon the series by accident when looking for more fantasy books to read. Completely immersed myself in each and every one. Read them bak to back and was gutted when I came to the end. Debby

Madam you are fabulous! This book is an absolute favorite. The action and suspense is overwhelming. Following the story of each character towards their entertainment has been enthralling for me. If you love fantasy and lust and bloody gory goodness you will love this book. I hope to continue reading and following along in this monumentous novel. This is truly a work of art.

4.0 out of 5 stars Epic Fantasy Right on Target 30 Oct 2012
By Trekelny - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book for its wide-ranging scope and the depth of the world behind it. Epic fantasy, especially these days, is full of characters running about and interacting- you can easily get dizzy. The difference in my opinion is whether there's a confidence to the writing, a sense that your attention to all these new things will be rewarded.

Tracy Falbe really delivers in Rys Rising- from the way magic works, to the customs of the different kingdoms and tribes, to songs and athletic contests and so much more, she carries the reader with a sure hand. I particularly appreciated two things- her commitment to describing the world in detail, and the way she helps you feel sympathy for the main characters by placing them in predicaments. Even when I questioned a motivation or a choice, I was fully engaged in the events she was showing me.

Don't want to spoil it with too much now, but I think you won't be disappointed with the effort you invest in this story. The pace picks up towards the end and incredible things start to happen. This is a great joy for the reader, because the rest of the series beckons and I have great hopes that the next books will be just as much fun as Rys Rising.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rys-Rising by Tracy Falbe 22 Feb 2012
By Kissablysweetone - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
In another world, civil unrest is just as much a part of their lives as it has been for others. The Rys, Tabre, and humans were trying to coexist in one world. The Rys were considered the lowest of the low. The Tabre thinking themselves superior tried to keep the Rys as slaves and under their thumb. It was a battle of magic, wits and intelligence. They even tried to breed to Rys with Tabres in hopes of enhancing the Tabre race. What happened was not expected. The Tabre's left their Rys children to fend for themselves and they went back to their city. Humans became instrumental in helping the Rys to overthrow the Tabre.

This book is like a soap opera. There are so many characters and so much complex information, you really have to be in the "zone" to get this book. It's good, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it. It just seemed to try to tie to many knots in one place. You will enjoy the colorful people and the new things you learn.

I did find this one to be a tough read for someone who doesn't read a LOT of fantasy. It was complex, full of characters and hard to follow.
