This is not as simple as it looks. The first one that was delivered did not start and leaked. I returned it as requested a replacement which was dispatched promptly.
Alas the replacement refused to start too. I got several experts to have a look just in case I was doing something wrong. They were all stumped & advised me to return it as none of them could get it to start. I am now waiting for my refund. The only good thing in this whole sorry saga was that the service from Amazon was great, shame the product was not.

Not as good as my old Ryobi which drew the air in from underneath when in blower mode. This new design sucks the air in from the side and it can suck you trousers or coat if held to the right. Starts and blows well though.

Totally Rubbish Product. I'm at a loss for words to describe how awful this product is. I have used petrol blower/vacs; petrol mowers and hedge-trimmers for many years but have never encountered a product as difficult as this one to start. One of the reasons I made this purchase was the claim to it had "Start Easy" technology - this is not the case, despite trying for hours; following the badly written and inadequate instructions this machine just would not start. It constantly flooded and there was no way to reduce the fuel supply. Stay Away from the Ryobil RBV26 petrol blower vac as it does not do what it says on the tin. Also had this sent to Greece so the cost of postage to return it was enormous, am out of pocket and very disappointed.

Disappointed with this machine. It is difficult to start requiring plug removal and the procedures described for flooding. If the engine can be started it seems to run and perform well in the vacuum mode. I have not used it as a blower. The bag is awkward to empty. I have other small two strokes, chain saw, strimmers, hedge cutters and previously another make of garden vac but this is the most perverse of any of them. There are better models on the marked and I would recommend avoiding the Ryobi.

Certainly not "Easy Start" as advertised. Starting hot its a few really really fast tugs to get this to start. Unless you are strong then you will have no chance of starting this. Ryobi technical support advise to pull the starter really fast- easier said than done but this does work eventually. Its cheaply made and despite the 2 year warranty I can't see it lasting long. Very awkward to use with the vacuum bag and difficult to empty the bag as you have to disconnect the tube and rotate it 90 degrees. Once running it sucks reasonably enough but its awkward to use and poorly balanced. I regret buying Ryobi.

UPDATE 2013

It now won't start at all.
Having looked at the "2 year warranty" under exclusions:
-Carburettor after 6 months, Carburettor Adjustments after 6 months,
And guess what the problem is - No fuel getting in.

So, a complete waste of money.

Pretty good quality and although slightly tricky to put together it should last. Did have a problem with it deciding not to work although it seems to have corrected itself now.

The Ryobi has proved perfect and so useful either as a garden blower or an a giant vacuum to suck up at the leaves.
