Having resisted my wife's pleas to get a leaf blower for years I borrowed a neighbours Flymo machine and was so impressed I researched other models. I plumped for the Ryobi as it had a metal blade as opposed to the replaceable plastic cutters in other makes. The mulching aspect is very impressive - a large pile of leaves is condensed to a much smaller size. Ryobi claim a 15:1 reduction which seems generous, but there is definitely a noticeable reduction. Other reviewers say it's noisy and it certainly is, but no noisier than my neighbour's Flymo and possibly even less so. Depending on the amount of leaf drop this machine will certainly save you time and effort, with the bonus that it will mulch the leaves for easier disposal or composting.

My first leafblower and it makes life a lot easier!
Plus Points:
+ Fairly easy to set up and certainly easy to use.
+ Powerful (dealt with wet compacted leaves without a problem).
+ Easy to switch between blow and suck.
+ Reduces size of leaf significantly so can get a fair amount into a relatively small bag.
Could Improve:
- Clearer quick start instructions (eg. you need to ensure the nozzle is fully extended or the motor won't start but hidden in small print and I spent 5 mins thinking it was faulty as the power light was on but motor wouldn't start). One off issue as once used for the first time you won't make the same mistake.
- Cable length relatively short so will need an extension for most gardens.
- The bag could have a bigger zip to make emptying the collected leaves easier.
Overall extremely happy with it but the improvement areas lose it a star.

We have a large garden with lots of trees so using Ryobi blower/vac makes the job of clearing leaves much easier. It also shreds them up ready for the compost heap. However, it could do with a silencer - it's horribly noisy. Ear protectors help but don't think the neighbours have them!
