I bought one of these to use where I would otherwise need either a scaffold or (heaven forbid) a ladder to chainsaw some stuff down.
I already had the Ryobi power unit and took a chance on this. So far I'm not disappointed.
The design is similar to the hedge trimmer expand-it but isn't articulated . I suspect that is so you can't find it too easy to be cutting something right underneath it so it drops on your head.
It's supplied with instructions, chain oil (USE IT AND KEEP THE TANK FILLED!) and adjustment tool. It's lighter than I expected and consequently is well balanced on the power unit.
As a word of advice; always run the power unit for a while with out any accessory attached. This allows it to warm up as trying to start the engine under load of the saw or other accessories will make it harder to start when cold and put extra strain on the motor.

Easy to use, very efficient pruner/chain saw attachment for use with the expand-it engine. I have comfortably and easily cut branches up to about 5" diameter - the angled head makes it a doddle to get to the right place without being double jointed!
To get the most out of it you must pay attention to the instructions about:
(a) method/sequence of cutting - not just to avoid the bark splitting back, but to avoid jamming the saw (which can be a real problem to release again, given that it is at the end of an extension that by definition you can't reach!)
(b) use full revs on the motor before starting to cut
Overall, a brilliant product - and 5 stars for quick delivery too, thanks!

I bought the expand-it system from another supplier. I am truly amazed at just what it can do. This particular attachment is absolutely amazing. I agree with other comments, wear glasses as chippings go everywhere, place the cuts in the right order and the right position and the tool is completely controllable. I've used mine to take the tops of a large leylandi hedge and it did the job with no problems at all. Using a hand saw would have killed me and taken ages. With this it was a doddle. I highly recommend this item.

Cut it off
This product works very well but beware how you store it as chain lube has habit of leaking and gives you another job to do to clear it up.

Not recommended
I bought one of these and the drive shaft sheered off within 30 mins of use. On the plus side TTI (Ryobi UK support) sent a replacement very fast, but it too failed. Read more
