If you need a powerful dust buster to pick up stubborn dirt / pet hairs then the cordless type is not for you. Get a mains powered one. However if you're after something much more portable then cordless is the only option and Ryobi make a very good one with this product.
I bought this Ryobi vacuum to make use of the 18v batteries I already have from my other Ryobi tools. I wouldn't specifically go out and get this unless you have some of the other tools too - a separate battery would be cost prohibitive. It's much more powerful than similar priced equivalents - 18v as opposed to 12v ones I found as the alternatives. This leads to pretty good suction and it's fine for general purpose use.
It's a shame there aren't more accessories so it loses a star for that. It's not brilliant for tight corners or awkward areas because of the single attachment that merely makes the end thinner with a pretty rubbish brush at the end of it. It could really do with a stiff brush that connects properly so you can loosen dirt with it.
It's easy to use, can be emptied quickly and has a washable filter. A great way to take advantage of your existing Ryobi batteries.
Be warned - 2 stars if you need to go out and buy a battery!

As the reviewer above i also bought this as i have various 18v ryobi one tools and batterys and i thought this would be rather handy,BEWARE THIS CORDLESS VACUUM COMES WITHOUT A BATTERY,this is quite powerful for a cordless vacuum,the only drawback is now my son has borrowed? it as he fits windscreens and uses this on his job,looks like i will have to buy another,to finalize-if you own 18v ryobi one batterys this is a very handy product,well built and easy to clean out as it has a permanent filter and this model has an extendable nozzle,ryobi 18v one batterys are designed to be used with the huge range of ryobi one power tools which are good quality and worth buying as you only need a couple of batterys to power them,e.g. use one while the other one is on charge,you can buy the one range of power tools ''bare'' WITHOUT batterys like this one fairly cheaply.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this product having in the past a B & D and others, all worked but not much suction or life. This is a hand held vacuum cleaner that in my opinion cannot be bettered for price, it is inexpensive and well made. It has a good battery life and if you have more than one battery it will go on long enough for most jobs - unlike a well advertised VERY expensive competitor. If you are already using the Ryobi + one tools it is an excellent addition.
