I used these books with my class of reluctant readers and found they enjoyed them a lot. The little morals at the end provided a nice bit of PSHE

5.0 out of 5 stars An important lesson in an enjoyable book 9 May 2012
By Amy - Published on
This lovely adventure story for young children teaches a very important lesson. Heroes are not just born that way, it takes hard work and determination to develop skills. Research by Stanford professor, Carol Dweck, attests to the importance of people developing a "growth mindset" which is based on the belief that we can improve in all realms if we keep trying. On the other side, a "fixed mindset" which is, unfortunately, more common, is based on the mistaken belief that you are either born with an ability or not. The former fosters courage and resilience, the latter leads to discouragement and avoidance of challenges. As a family therapist and parent educator, I highly recommend this book for all adults who have a child in their lives.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ryan The Spy 17 May 2012

When I was younger I was a big fan of adventure / imagination books that brought children into an alternative, 'foriegn' universe. Books that made normal, everyday lives boring- but also spakred the idea of possibility. This children's book is not only entertaining but also encourages imagination and creative thinking. I have bought a copy for all of the kids in my family and extended family. They all love it! If you know a child that is into adventure and has a great imagination this book is certainly for them. Great website as well... Allows kids to follow a story in addition to the book.
5.0 out of 5 stars A "MUST" READ FOR EVERY CHILD 14 Jan. 2013

I am a Kindergarten teacher in Massachusetts. I was researching material for my classes one day and I stumbled upon this book. One quick read and I knew I just had to have it for the whole school. All of my students absolutely loved it, both boys and girls and other teachers. It was captivating, imaginative and instructional. My students can't wait for Ryan's next adventure. I highly recommend this book to both parents, children and educators everywhere and best of all, it is reasonably priced.
5.0 out of 5 stars I want to read more of these books. 11 Sept. 2013

My big sisters read Ryan the Spy books to me. They are very good because they are about spies which interest me. I don't like princesses and fairies. Spies are exciting. Ryan always goes on missions and finds secrets of superheroes, pirates and other spies. I want to read more books like this.
