When Allegra, the younger sister of billionaire Vicenzo Valentini, is killed in a tragic car accident, he's out for revenge. Cormac Bosnan, the one responsible for killing his sister and trying to get her money is already dead, so Vicenzo decides to take his revenge against Cormac's sister. He believes that Cara Brosnan was a willing partner in her brothers cruel scheme to get Allegras money. So he seduces her and after confronting her with his real identity leaves her crushed the next morning.
Cara Brosnan couldn't be more innocent (in every way), she hated living with her cruel brother and did her best to go out of his way. After spending the night with Vicenzo she is shocked to find out that his sole reason for approaching her was revenge. And when she realizes that she is pregnant she just doesn't know how to go on.
As Vincenzo finds out that Cara is pregnant he forces her to marry him. But what begins as a forced marriage soon changes when Vincenzo realizes that Cara is not the ruthless person he thought her to be and that maybe he is the one who has to make amends for his own cruel behaviour if he wants their marriage to have a chance.

"Ruthlessly bedded, forcibly wedded" is a great book. I just love the way Abby Green tells her stories. Vincenzo and Cara are a great pair and because the whole revenge scheme is not over the top I truly enjoyed reading about their relationship. You get funny, sad, steamy and lovely scenes and all in all I just had a great time reading this book. So if you are a fan of romances I can genuinely recommend this book to you.

Good quality romance 24 Jan 2011

I don't normally go for straight up modern romance novels, but this book tempted me with its revenge plotline. If I am honest, I was expecting a really predictable plotline, cheesy dialogue and then a happy ending. That's not quite what I got really; The plot was more complex than I was expecting, the characters more interesting and the dialogue was actually pretty realistic.

Vincenzo's sister, Allegra, has died in a terrible accident caused by Cara's brother. He believes Cara to be jointly responsible his sister's descent into drugs and extravagance and that she was party to her brother's plot to steal Allegra's inheritance. He sets out to confront Cara, to make her admit to her guilt, but he is sidetracked by his attraction to her, a problem that has far-reaching consequences involving a pregnancy and a forced marriage.

Cara is a likeable character, admirably standing up for herself despite being at a disadvantage for most of the book. Vincenzo is a darkly-delicious and angry man. His attempt to control his feelings and maintain the upper hand is very readable. The characters are well-written and warm enough to make you care. I was really rooting for them by about a third of the way through! There's something compelling about two people fighting their attraction to each other.

So, I would recommend this, even if you don't normally go for this genre. I was surprised by how well-written it was.

Just Excellent!!! 7 Mar 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
Really liked the characters, especially Cara, Vincenzo and Silvio -Vincenzo's dad-. The storyline was really well written and well twisted. The more you read it, and the more captivated you are by the developement of the story. It was so realistic, especially on Cara's side who contrary to the other Harlequins heroins, was more believable, particularly when she refused to buy colourful clothes prefering to stick to the black.

I felt sorry for the main protagonists, but at the same time was really touched by Cara.

Anyway, I highly recommend this novel! You will not regretting reading it!
