Hi, could I just ask is this oil based? As I want to use it on bare wood frames and then paint over the primer. Thank you 14 Aug 2014
No - it does however need a couple of coats before painting over either with a water based paint or presumably an oil based one - although I have always used a water based (acrylic) paint for my top coats - I obtain a very professional finish this way - my oil paintings on canvas look very good in my custom made frames - buyers really seem to admire the entire presentation - paintings & frames.
Sorry - can't comment on it for use on plastic - I use it on wood - I make my own frames for pictures I paint - machined from blank lengths of wood from my local DIY shop (not B & Q I hasten to add) - hand painting with many proprietary brands of paint often raises the grain whereas this spray gives a perfect surface - it looks very professional - I find that I spend around £20 plus a few hours custom making quite a large frame for some works and have been quoted around £150 for a commercially produced one. If this paint is as good on plastic as I have found it on wood then it will be great.
