Product Description

Wow ... was Russell s reaction as he walked out to a standing ovation at the venue of his dreams.

This is so much more than a concert; it is an experience of the greatest musical and emotional magnitude.

The spotlight was very much on the man with one of the most sensational singing voices that the classical world has ever known. But he was not alone; filling the enormous stage with him was the forty-eight piece Arts Symphonic impeccably led by Lizzie Ball under enigmatic conductor Robert Emery, the assured Capital Voices and an eighty- strong backing choir. What a magical sight and what magnificent sound!

Russell made an emotional opening to his fans,

It s difficult to find words to explain how I feel tonight ... because I built myself to this moment from the very day that I finished my last session of radiotherapy.

I remember going to bed dreaming about this night in the most famous of venues on the planet and here I am, thank God - I can t believe it.

Thank you for your welcome, it was absolutely incredible thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Russell s faultless performance starts with a powerful rendition of Somewhere and Ave Maria and is followed by a string of incredible numbers such as Funiculi Funicula and Volare and closes with a Royal Albert Hall roof-raising Nessun Dorma . One of the highlights of the wonderful set comes when Russell is joined by classical crossover newcomer Mary-Jess for a Phantom Of The Opera medley, and an amazing duet of The Prayer .

This is a dream come true and a performance of a life-time, enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Voice lives up to his Name 10 May 2011
Format:DVD
I was lucky enough to be at this show at The Royal Albert Hall last week. It was a wonderful evening full of fabulous music & a truly first rate performance from Russell who took command of the stage & gave 100% to each & every song. Opening with "Somewhere" from West Side Story with all the power & richness that song deserves, followed by the stunning and haunting "Intermezzo" from Cavalleria Rusticana. Other songs included the Phantom of the Opera showstoppers "Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You" - both sung in a rich and beautiful tenor voice. The Theme from the Godfather was sung in English "Speak Softly Now" - every note resounded through the Hall. A new song for this tour was "The Impossible Dream" that Russsell felt summed up his story. The show ended (well almost) on an impeccable "Nessun Dorma" with the final note being perfection. The first of many encores was Les Miserables "Bring him Home" that reduced my sister to tears. On to the big show stopping Last Night of the Proms ending - Jerusalem & Land of Hope & Glory - once wasn't enough as Russell encouraged us all to sing it again. Before heading home Russell left us with the last track from la Voce "Someone to Remember Me" that stole the show with its emotion and the magic of his voice & the wonderful Orchestra & backing singers. Pure entertainment. A memory to treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 11 Nov 2011
Format:DVD
Russell fan or not, anyone will be overwhelmed by this DVD of his concert. I watched the show at Symphony Hall Birmingham early this year and I was taken over by it. This is a man of talent who is so down to earth and in touch with his fans that they would follow him anywhere.

This DVD must be seen it is inspiring.
