We tried out about thirty kettles in various stores to find one that an elderly, arthritic and frail relative could lift and use easily. This kettle is the lightest in weight by far of all those we tried. Also it's opened by pressing a button to release the lid which then opens at a good ninety degrees. Many kettles don't open this far so you would have to tilt them backwards at an angle to fill them at the tap. Many kettles also require you to pull the lid up yourself and most of those require two hands and a lot of strength as they are incredibly stiff. This is something able bodied people might just find irritating but it's an absolute no-no for many elderly and disabled people.
My only wish is that there was a smaller version - maybe a travel kettle size. 1.7 Litre is a little on the large size. I think a 1.2 or 1 Litre would probably suit many people who don't often need to fill a kettle to 1.7 Litre capacity.

Read many reviews of kettles as I have dexterity problems,bought this one on customer recommendations,so easy to use, love it.Although advertised as 1.7 it's 1.6litres.

Lid falls apart after a few months
After 6 months the lid cracked and disintegrated. The replacement went the same way after only 3 months. Looks like a design fault in the material selected.
