    Everything about this frying pan suggests quality, the name, the price, the weight, the feel - everything. After having used cheap non-stick frying pans, replacing them every year or two, we thought it was time to move up.

    Sadly this was a backwards move. It is non-stick for the first few uses, but like the review before this one the black crud started to build up, making this pan the very opposite of non-stick!

    I contacted Russell Hobbs, who suggest I send it to them for investigation.. I packed it and weighed it, and realised the the cost of posting it to them was more than the cost of buy a new, cheap, non-stick frying pan....

    ...which is what I did, and I have a non-stick frying pan that truly IS non-stick again, and will carry on replacing it every year or two. I am HUGELY dissapointed in this product. If you want non-stick, this is NOT the product to buy!

    I had this frying pan for a few months as part of a set. It was really great at first, but unfortunately they simply don't last after a few months of light usage. The pans and frying pan have all started to fail in the same ways.

    The paint seems to chip off very easily, so you get flecks of white paint on all the pans underneath this one in your cupboard. They also begin to look very unsightly. The non-stick surface seems to get covered in a kind of brown very sticky residue that does not wash off, even in a dishwasher. When frying just about anything this residue builds up (it's especially bad when frying bacon) to a burnt dark brown sticky layer that makes everything you cook taste burnt.

    A side-by-side comparison to a cheap high street supermarket brand of non-stick frying pan that's 1/5th of the price shows that this problem appears to be unique to this new type of non-stick. The older black style of non-stick seems to last much longer, and is dishwasher safe.

    These pans are not marked as dishwasher safe, so perhaps it is my dishwashing them that ruined the non-stick and/or caused the paint to chip off easily. But, not the fact alone that these pans are not dishwasher safe in this day and age warrants a low score in my opinion.

    5.0 out of 5 stars The best frying pan I have ever owned, 13 May 2009
    Superb frying pan - neat, stylish and chunky giving you confidence to fling the bacon round the pan with impunity. Slightly heavier than the average pan, but this is because of the special coating whis evens out the heat distribution. Cleans up nicely, and is superbly non stick (no oil used at all) just be careful with the metal handle if you have it on the hob for a while - oven gloves reccomended!
