Purifry is a versatile way to cook your family’s favourites

The Purifry from Russell Hobbs uses technology to harness the cooking power of pure, fast-circulating air to cook family favourites like chips or chicken nuggets without using oil or fat. The coatings are still crispy and the taste will speak for itself.

Because there is no oil to heat it is fast and convenient

The Purifry is designed to be quick and easy to use. Unlike traditional fat fryers, there is no oil to heat so cooking time is reduced. As well as using less fat, the vapours and odours of fried food are reduced so all you will experience is the aroma of cooked food.

You can roast and bake with it too

With its sizeable 2 litre capacity drawer with food separator you can cook meat, fish and vegetables separately at the same time, just set the controls to the right temperature and time that you need. There’s no paddle to break up the food, it only needs a shake half way through. What’s more, you can whip up various baked treats such as scones, pies and cupcakes or even roasted joints, the versatility is endless. There is no messy oil to dispose of and it is dishwasher safe too making it quick and easy to clean too.

Fast-circulating hot air

For fast and convenient dinners and snacks, the Purifry heats up quickly and cooks more efficiently than a conventional oven.

2 litre capacity drawer with food separator

With a sizeable drawer, you can cook a variety of vegetables, meat, fish, potatoes and the food separator feature allows you to do a couple of things at the same time.

No oil or fat required

As there is no need to use any oil or fat, meals are made healthier and with fewer added calories than when prepared using a traditional fryer requiring these additions.

Dishwasher Safe

With no oil to dispose of which would risk clogging up water systems, you can simply slip out the containers and wash them in the dishwasher. This makes cleaning up after use much simpler.

I like the idea of an airfryer but wasn't convinced that it would work...But it does!!....
Its really easy to use...Set the temperature...warm it up....put the food in the basket...set the timer and go....just shake once half way through cooking....

I tried to use more oil than I needed to as I didn't believe that 1 teaspoon was enough but it is...as ever just read and follow the instructions ....they work!

I've made chips...of course...and they were lovely....and I've roasted vegetables in it ....again lovely....

The basket can be split into 2 and you can cook two things at once which is a bonus I think....

PROS
1. Easy to set up
2. easy to use
3. easy to clean.....all dishwasher safe..
4. Healthy...
5. No oil to spill....so safer than a chip pan....
6. 2 litre capacity....
CONS
1. Its big..
2. Not cheap....
3. 2 litre capacity may not be big enough for some....
4. Not many cook books around for them...but just experiment...

Overall...its great....easy to use and the food tasted good....

The Russell Hobbs 20810 Purifry Health Fryer is my first experience of an air fryer, although I've been curious about getting hold of one for a while. I was initially a bit bewildered looking at the box which describes this as a "versatile appliance for cooking chips, meat, fish, vegetables, even baking cakes and much more". Baking cakes in a fryer? It makes much more sense when you realise that this isn't a fryer at all, it's an oven, "a specialised fan oven" to quote the instructions.

The first thing that most people will use a fryer for is cooking chips, and I leapt straight in. The Health Fryer warms up quickly to temperature in about 5 minutes and cooks enough frozen chips for two people in about 20 minutes. You will find that the more you load the basket up, the more you have to regularly shake and turn the food as it cooks. Unlike a traditional fryer the food isn't suspended in a cooking fat. If you don't regularly shake and turn (and I found myself doing this half a dozen times in a 20 minutes cook) you end up with chips that are burnt on one side and nearly raw on the other side. This was compounded when cooking potato wedges and fresh cut chips. I had to turn the temperature down from the recommended setting and shake and turn every five minutes, although it's worth pointing out that the results were absolutely delicious. There is a divider that comes with the air fryer to pop in the basket and keep two different food stuffs separate. I found this useful for the kids saturday lunch, enabling me to cook kids favourites like potato waffles, chips, fish fingers and chicken dippers at the same time.

This is an excellent product, healthier than deep fat fryers, quicker and the tastiest chips!

I love kitchen gadgets so was looking forward to my first 'air fryer'

It was not exactly what I was expecting but I did not know what I was expecting - A miracle I think to expect food with little or no oil to actually taste fried

I make 'healthy fries' in my oven already with spray oil and these tasted exactly the same with the spray oil on them so I don't know what I was expecting really , it is convenient but it tastes the same as me putting it in the oven so was a bit disappointed to be honest as tried it with home made chips and frozen samosas and they don't taste fried at all so will try them with oven chips but presume it will be the same as putting them in the oven as well

So a bit of an expense for just a mini version of my oven but at least I know what all the hype was about = air fryer = mini oven = expensive for a bit of a gimmick item , will experiment more with it though and see if I am impressed

My soup maker I bought on the other hand I am THRILLED with , makes good soup , hot chocolate , chai tea and going to try it will dahl next and porridge

After years of curiosity, I finally got the chance to try a health fryer and I can tell you, they are worth the hype. I found it easy to use, and was amazed how quickly it heated up to the temperature I had specified. There is a small manual included, which has a list of the type of items you're likely to want to fry in the health fryer, and tells you how long they need to be cooked for and at what temperature. It's marginally quicker than using a conventional oven, plus as it heats up so quickly, it cuts running (electricity/gas) costs.

In terms of the result, it produces a lovely crispy finish. The food is piping hot and thoroughly cooked through, and the centre (of your chips, scampi, chicken nuggets, etc) do not lose any of their softness or juiciness. Looking at the cooking basket after use, it is amazing how little fat/grease you can see. There are no large globules or pools which makes me feel a lot better about my scampi habit!

It is easy to clean as well, and in fact its only disadvantage is its size as it is tall and bulky (around the size of a premium bean to cup coffee machine, and it is fairly heavy too.

Highly recommended, although this is my first experience of using a health fryer so I have nothing to compare it with.
