Russell Hobbs design household items with real people in mind, so when they created the Easy Toaster they considered everything a toast lover could want. The space-saving design means you can have the benefit of a four-slice toaster but in the sleek format of a two-slice toaster, and when combined with the hot pockets toast keeps warmer for longer.
Space-saving keep warm pockets
Having pockets on the side means you can enjoy four slices of warm toast from a two-slice toaster – just toast your first two slices and pop them in the warming pockets while the next lot are toasting. The keep warm draws actually keep toast 30 per cent warmer compared to leaving your toast on a plate, which makes the toaster great if you haven't much room or only need to toast four slices occasionally.
Frozen bread and cancel functions
With the frozen bread function you can toast bread straight from the freezer. You don't even have to adjust the browning control away from your favoured setting: when selecting the option, toasting time will be altered automatically to give the same degree of browning you get with unfrozen bread. The cancel function allows you to cancel toasting mid cycle.
About the Russell Hobbs brand

Such is the strength of the Russell Hobbs brand, it has won numerous awards and product accreditations from leading institutes.
Adjustable browning control
This allows you to select the level of browning you prefer, assuring your toast is always cooked to your desired consistency.
The high lift feature allows you to bring the lever up so that your toast pops out high enough for you to take it out easily.
Sleek and stylish
The Easy Toaster is as stylish as it is functional. It has a lovely curved design, and contemporary matte black casing. Its flat back means it can stand flush against the wall so it's space saving and looks tidy too.
Easy to clean
By their very nature, toasters can be tricky gadgets to clean. That's why the Easy Toaster has removable pockets and a removable crumb tray, so you can get rid of breadcrumbs and grease with ease.

Luckily, this toaster manages to strike the perfect balance.
The toaster is extremely slim and takes up a lot less room than you would expect and it has the simple design of one side being completely flat so it sits snugly against the kitchen wall.
Like every toaster i've ever come across, it's still impossible to empty the crumb tray without a few crumbs going everywhere but after a dozen toasters in my lifetime which have all had the same failing i've given up on that design fault ever being solved!
One thing it does win brownie points on is with the warming pockets on the side so you can keep 2 slices warm while another two toast and the 'toast from frozen' option also works pretty well at the simple press of a button.
All in all, it's very well made and everything about it just screams 'quality' and i'm happy with it sitting in my kitchen
Nice simple controls where you can thaw frozen bread and a dial you can change how toasted you want your toast. Nice blue light in the handle also so all looks good and works good.
My one gripe (and it's a fairly big one) is that the plastics they have used to make the body of the toaster are not great and never look really clean. They are clean it's just not a polished surface and will scratch easily.
If you don't mind that much how it looks and are not a clean freak then this is a great toaster for you. If you are a wee bit fussy and I admit that I am then look somewhere else.
But it's just a toaster, right? How hard can that be? So what am I really paying for?
Well, other than the look of it, the Russel Hobbs 19990 Easy Toaster (is there such a thing as a "Difficult Toaster"?) has two handy compartments on the front which you can keep a couple of slices of hot toast in while the next two are in the machine, and it will keep them warm until you are ready for them. However these compartments are not heated by anything other than the toasting function, so don't expect to come back twenty minutes later to hot toast!
The high lift feature is handy, especially when toasting pitta bread or crumpets or something small, allowing you to get at them without having to turn the thing over or start fiddling around trying to fish out your breakfast whilst simultaneously trying not to burn or electrocute yourself! The construction of the toaster with one long pocket instead of two shorter seperate ones mean that it is doubly suited for things like pitta bread which in the past I have had to toast twice - an end of it sticking out of the top of the toaster each time! However this also comes with another drawback: there is no warming rack for croissants etc. Finally I found that the outside of the toaster, particularly the back, did get quite hot after use. Not dangerously so, but this toaster clearly doesn't feature cool-wall.
But is it space saving? It's slim that's true, but it is very long and in my experience that kind of space is what is at a premium in a crowded kitchen.Read more ›
Firstly looks. Obviously it stands out because of the front pockets. The idea behind these (keeping the toast warm to let you toast additional slices) is ok but it uses ambient heat from the toaster and ultimately gives something else to clean. This does allow the unit to be slightly slimmer and cheaper than a quality 4 slice toaster but I just wonder if it's not just simpler to get a bigger unit (did Jon Tickle from Big Brother have an idea for something like this?). It could be that, like Mr Tickle, you want somewhere to keep the toast warm while you butter one slice, but this seems like a bit of fuss.
Anyway, on to the toaster. In operation it toasts medium to think slices very well, including frozen. The pockets did keep the toast warm while we did another set and there was only a slight drop in temperature. So in terms of operation it gets the thumbs up.
Looks and build wise it is ok for the price, slightly longer than you'd think but narrow. The product page says that due to the flat back you can put it flush to the wall, but I am personally don't like putting hot things under kitchen shelves or units (due to an unfortunate toaster related incident when I was a kid).
All in all an ok toaster which will be a bit of a talking point if you're stuck for kitchen conversation.
