The Russell Hobbs Kitchen Machine will inspire you to get creative in the kitchen. Super stylish and streamlined, this essential appliance will take food preparation to another level. Whether you are baking bread or preparing the ingredients for delicious homemade cakes, the 800 watt kitchen machine has plenty of tools to help you get started in the kitchen.

4.6 litre stainless steel bowl

The large 4.6 litre stainless steel bowl means you can conjure up a whole host of tasty treats for your family. The generously-sized bowl is also easy to clean and dishwasher safe.

1.25 litre glass jug blender

The 1.25 litre glass jug blender, which sits on top of the mixer underneath the small cap located on the end of the arm, allows you to conjure up tasty refreshing smoothies, cocktails, and heart-warming soups.

Planetary mixing action

The Russell Hobbs Kitchen Machine has plenty of power, yet is still easy to use. It features planetary mixing action, which means that while the beater is moving in one direction the socket turns in the opposite direction, making sure all of the mixture is picked up from around the bowl, resulting in even and thorough mixing to produce smooth, velvety results.

Electronic variable speed

Electronic variable speed

The electronic variable control provides ten different speeds and a pulse function, so you can adjust the mixing speed to suit your ingredients.

Splash guard

The Russell Hobbs Kitchen Machine includes a very handy transparent plastic splash guard, keeping all contents inside the bowl during preparation.

It also has a hinged opening, so that you can add ingredients without having to remove the splash guard from the bowl.

Pasta maker

The pasta maker attachment allows you to make fresh pasta from scratch at home, in numerous different shapes to suit your preferences. Insert the attachment to the front power outlet, located on the front arm, to make a variety of pasta shapes including spaghetti, tagliatelle, lasagne, small or large macaroni, and rigatoni.

Safe and stable

To ensure safety, the Kitchen Machine comes equipped with motor overload protection. This is a smart feature that stops the machine from mixing if there is too much resistance, such as if the ingredients are too thick or if there is too much mixture in the bowl.

As well as safety and control, Russell Hobbs also understands the importance of stability. The Kitchen Machine has non-slip feet so it can get a good, stable stance on even the shiniest of kitchen surfaces, and won't slide around even when it's working at full speed.

Bowl tools

Tools and accessories

To ensure you have the right tool for the job, the Russell Hobbs Kitchen Machine comes complete with a number of useful bowl tool attachments.

Dough hook

The dough hook takes the hard work out of kneading dough – ideal for making bread and pastry.

The whisk can whip up lighter mixes into a smooth, velvety consistency – perfect for meringues and mousses.

The beater is designed for an efficient and quick beating time – great for mixing cakes, pastry, and biscuits.

Additional accessories

In addition to the above inclusive tools, additional attachments are available to purchase, notably a meat grinder for freshly made homemade burgers and a vegetable shredder for preparing salads in those hot summer months.

This is an excellent machine for the following reasons:
1. the mixing device goes very close to the bowl and thus does not leave unmixed ingredient
2. the speed settings are spot on
3. it makes everything from a rhubarb fool (mmmmmmmmmm) through cakes and sponges and does them excellently
4. the swinging top and side flap lid are excellent for adding ingredients etc.
5. it is smart and solid and the sucker feet hold it rock steady on the bench even under heavy loads (like pasta)

On the other hand:
- the sticky label on the bowl was attached with something approximating to araldite and has left awful marks on the shiny stainless bowl.
- the egg pasta function doesn't work very well (it may be the recipe they included that is awful; I'll be trying pasta again) and the heavy sticky mass really left even this machine struggling and the extruded pasta all stuck back together (like I say there may well be a knack I need to find).
- most annoyingly the power cable is only about 50cm long so the machine has to be bang up against a plug socket.
- the speed dial works fine, but feels a bit plasticy and feeble:@ for this money I'd expect it to be solid and reassuring.

The cons are very much out-weighed by the pros - I don't make much pasta, the marks will shift with white spirit or similar and I have an extension lead - I'd buy this anytime.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a substantial and versatile piece of kitchen equipment. It feels very well designed and made; attaching and detaching the various fittings is straightforward once you've got used to it. Cleaning and washing parts is easy too; all parts that need washing are easily removed, and unlike with some kitchen appliances, there are no parts of these that need to be kept out of water. You might need to think about where this can be used in your kitchen, as it's rather tall, and could block wall cupboard doors, and the cable is rather short, so the machine needs to be used close to a socket.

The main mixer includes three different fittings: a dough hook, a beater, and a whisk. The dough hook does a good job, and managed to mix and knead a large quantity of dough very thoroughly in just a few minutes, removing the need for kneading by hand. The beater dealt with ingredients for cakes very well, typically producing a smooth batter of just the right consistency in little more than a minute. The whisk did a great job in preparing egg whites for a lemon meringue pie, for which the beater was also used to make the pastry dough. The 'planetary mixing action' means that all three attachments do a very good job of getting right to the edge of the bowl.

The blending jug is excellent for making things that contain plenty of liquid, such as smoothies or pesto, blending them very finely and quickly. However, it's not so good at handling mixtures that have less liquid in them, such as pasta sauces with chunky vegetables: it doesn't seem able to move all the ingredients around the jug without manual intervention, so it's quite hard to get a smooth and even result. This makes this part of the machine a little disappointing.

This is a big and HEAVY machine, but I guess for the amount of things it can do, the design is close to perfect.

It is easy and intuitive to set up/dismantle and clean and it looks good on the kitchen table. The bowl size is good for standard portions and although there are other accessories available to buy, the basic machine comes with sufficient tools for my requirements.

A very good product.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The Russell Hobbs mixer is a quality product. The main body is made from die cast aluminium. The 4.6L bowl, dough hook and mixer blade are all metal construction. The 1.25l blender body is a thick glass with other parts, including most of the pasta maker are made in plastic.

The electric cable is on the short side at around 70cm, the product is quite tall, just using the mixing bowl requires it to be pulled out from under the kitchen units another 30-50cm of cable would make positioning it a lot easier.

The mixer is supplied with a 92 page instruction manual, however this is 4 sides of information repeated in 23 languages. The manual is basic showing how the parts fit together. If you've used a mixer before you may not need to consult it extensively as the devices are all relatively similar in design/operation. There was little in the way of recipes, but some web links to Russell Hobbs online recipes.

Its possible to get additional attachments for the device, a metal meat mincer and a vegetable shredder/slicer.

In use I've compared it with my ~4-5 year old Kenwood Chef Classic mixer, and a 20 year old Moulinex food processor.

The mixer is noisy, but subjectively seemed the same as other mixers. The 800w motor was adequate for most purposes. It struggled a little with an elastic bread dough and the family bread making expert thought the Kenwood was better in this respect. The mixer has a variable speed, even on slow its quite fast.

Mixer bowl/beater blade
The bowl is not the largest on the market, but I found it adequate for a four sponge victoria sandwich cake.
