This kettle looks Ok but the switch turn it on is fragile. The main problem with it was that it started to leak from in-between the black base and the metal after two and a half weeks!

I have returned it and I'm waiting for a refund.

Different design from illustration and even on box. No line down side, black ring round base is straight, not turned up as shown, so manufacturer's logo is centred on side. Only had this a week, was worried about steam from switch, but may have been from water evaporating on exterior.

Russell Hobbs Kettle-stainless steel. I am absolutely delighted with this kettle. It is smart and elegant, boils very quickly and easy to clean. One little annoying thing [which is not too important] it is quite hard to see the water level as one fills the kettle from the tap.....I have learned to 'hear' when the kettle sounds full! However, in spite.....I recommend this item without hesitation. Thankyou.

I bought this kettle in november 2010 and was pleased with it until the last few weeks when it started to leak all over my countertops whenever it's filled higher than for one cup. I expect a Russell Hobbs kettle to last longer than 9 months!

The kettle is very cheaply made and when you turn it on to boil, its so noisey you'll wake the dead.

This kettle works quickly if somewhat noisily. It is easy to fill and use. The image, however, is a little misleading - we nearly did not buy it as it looks as if it has a black stripe and we wanted a pure metal kettle. The black stripe is in fact a reflection in the metal of the body of the kettle so we were well chuffed when we opend the box!

Kettle arrived safely and looks lovely. However, has one serious safety fault - the lid has a habit of flying open as the contents reach boiling point and so the auto cut-off does not trigger and you may end up with a kitchen full of steam and burnt hands turning it off. Have tried ensuring that the lid is firmly closed before boiling but it still tends to happen.

Has anyone else noticed this,or do we have a "rogue" product.

I can only hope that everyone planning to buy this kettle reads this review first.

The instruction manual tells that there are special holes on the base of the kettle to allow for the release of condensation. It also says not to be alarmed if the water is on the base plate, but to allow it to dry for 24 hours.

If these instructions were followed, you would never make more than one cup of tea.

Contrary to the instructions, what occurs can only be a described as a tropical flood and it will pour out of the bottom of the kettle. There are kettles which have been left outside during the Singaporean rainy season which have remained dryer than this will with just one flick of the on switch.

As for drying it, you better had before the water overtakes the table and pours all over the floor, and into the multiplug - which happened in my case.

Also be careful when you lift it up, as a slight tilt to either side will cause more (boiling) water to pour out all over your legs and feet.

The ONLY plus I can possibly think of for this kettle is, when faced with our current hosepipe ban, you could water your entire garden with what leaks our of the bottom.
