Kettle takes a little while to boil and is a little noisy compared with our previous Tefal however the toaster is good and both items look great. Very good value when compared to the other similar sets on the market

This is a cheap way of getting a fairly good kettle and toaster. The kettle is good. Boils the water quickly. It is very light which makes it feel a bit cheap. The toaster feels even cheaper and one big downside is that it does not fit bigger slices of toast. Only small to medium slices. Anything else will stick out at the top and won't get toasted meaning you'll have to flip them around and toast the upper half. Not ideal! Also the push down handle is very plastic-y and the whole toaster just feels cheap.

But to be fair, it is a cheap combination of a brand name, so I guess you get what you pay for. Would NOT recommend to someone who eats a lot of toast though.

Having purchased from Amazon before and been well satisfied I had no hesitation in purchasing this product. I was perhaps a little silly not to have read other reviews but being fairly new to on-line shopping I wasn't experienced enough to realise that facility existed. To say I was disappointed is an understatement! The toaster was flimsy and did not take a full slice of bread. The slots are not wide enough to toast anything other than bread and to be honest I have cut my losses and bought a different make and model from a high street store. The kettle is useless and has a plastic type of coating on the inside which causes massive scaling. Even the use of filters and scale collectors doesn't prevent a floating mass of scale on a cup of tea. Again I have cut my losses and bought an alternative kettle, again from a high street store. Yes I could have sent these products back but having opened and disposed of the packaging, a mistake I won't make again, it was too much hassle to parcel up and return. As far as I am concerned the lessons learned are that cheap offers are probably not worth having, and electrical goods bought on-line are not worth the trouble to send back if anything goes wrong. E-mailing on a computer screen doesn't have the same effect as speaking to someone personnally. My advice on this particular product offer is ignore it!!

The plastic coating on the lid of the kettle started to peel off after about 6 months and got worse and worse. Both items packed up completely after around 18 months. Don`t think they are made by Russell Hobbs, just carry their name.

I bought this exact same set from Argos a little more than a year ago. The toaster never worked very well (the thermostat in the toaster was temperamental, sometimes it worked and others not), but I didn't really use it much, so it didn't bother me. After I almost burned my kitchen down over two slices of toast, however, I returned the package to Argos, who couldn't change it for me, because although it was still listed on their catalog (as a great bargain!), there was no inventory for it anywhere in their stores. I called Russell Hobbs to speak to them directly, and they said that the product had been discontinued! After much ado, I got my money back from Argos (and not a store credit, as they pushed for initially), who wouldn't just give me a new toaster and let me keep the kettle (which worked fine).
I was cruising through Amazon bargains today and was very surprised to see this deal come up again! Stay away from it, you'll be stuck with a bad product which will magically be discontinued when you need to replace it, and you'll have to spend time arguing with customer service. I ended up getting the two items separately (different brand, of course), and paid a bit more money, but now have peace of mind.

Suppose you get what you pay for. Found the kettle very slow and the toaster very 'cheap' and flimsy. Have to use small bread as it will only brown one half of normal sized slice.

Both the kettle and the toaster work perfectly well and look very smart in my kitchen. The kettle is the best item, with a good switch which looks like it will work for years to come. The toaster has more controls than my previous one which is nice, the only thing I'm not so keen on is the handle which seem a bit flimsy, but does work OK. Very good value for money.

When I ordered this product it was to replace a kettle that we'd had for nearly 7 yrs and were sick of having limescale in our tea. Was only looking for a kettle, but at over £50 off the list price thought we'd replace the toaster as well. The item was ordered on supersaver delivery, so I was more than impressed when it arrived the next day. Well done Amazon.
The products themselves. Firstly the toaster is excellent, the only minor niggle is the handle that drops the rack is abit flimsy. The kettle on the other hand is a bag of cr*p. It takes ages to boil and eventhough it has a filter our drinks are filled with scale and scum. This is because there is a massive design fault with the filter which doesn't fit properly and has a small gap at the top. This means that if you tip the kettle and anything other than a shallow angle, all the water passes through the gap and not through the filter. End result, its going in the bin and I'm buying another kettle.
