Product Description

The Russell Hobbs brand has been synonymous with quality, style and innovation for over 50 years. Founded in 1952 by Bill Russell and Peter Hobbs, the brand has led the way by introducing products which offer real consumer benefits and technological advancements. Such is the strength of the Russell Hobbs brand, it is recognised by 9 out of 10 consumers as a leading small kitchen appliance brand in the UK and has won numerous awards and product accreditations by leading institutes.

A perfect cup of filter coffee is yours at the touch of a button, with the Caffe Torino by Russell Hobbs Filter Coffee Maker, designed to look good and make you a mouth-watering cup of delicious filter coffee, whenever you want it and will compliment polished or brushed home appliances.

Its fully programmable digital timer, allows you to program the coffee maker to switch on up to 24 hours in advance, perfect for waking up to the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee or when you arrive home at the end of the day. For the ultimate in convenience, when the brewing process has finished the coffee maker will even keep switched on for up to two hours, with the hotplate keeping the coffee hot, should you decided to have your coffee a little later.

The non-drip valve is also extremely useful, as it prevents coffee from dripping onto the hotplate whilst the carafe is removed. For your convenience a water level indicator is located on the side of the machine for precise filling and also has an auto shut-off feature, which switches the machine off two hours after brewing has finished.

The Caffe Torino by Russell Hobbs Filter Coffee Maker will make 8-10 cups of delicious filter coffee at a time.

This neat filter coffee maker does an excellent job in my opinion. It has been 100% reliable so far and the only problem I've had was the initial plasticky taste of the brew, which seems to come from the plastic filter. Once this had been used a few times the taste problem disappeared. It is just a little awkward to fill the reservoir until you get used to it, but this is a small price to pay for the neat and compact design. Before getting this machine I had been using a cafetiere and this is so much more convenient. The filter has the usual device to stop the flow if you remove the jug in mid brew. However I wouldn't recommend it with this machine as you tend to get one strong mug of coffee and then one weak one. Better to be patient and wait for the brew to finish and get a consistent strength. Unfortunately the filter is quite coarse and the coffee filters through a little too fast for my taste. It would be nice to have a means to control the flow rate out of the basket. It has a timer so you can have fresh brewed coffee ready when you wake up. I've never used this feature but I'm sure some might find it useful.

Overall I'm very happy with this coffee machine. It's fast, convenient and produces good coffee on a budget. The only drawbacks are the initial plastic taste and the lack of any brew strength control. I'd rather have slower flow through the filter and so stronger flavour.

Not had this product for very long and already the very thin glass on the caraffe has cracked. I have tried to find a spare online, but have met with very little success, all spares outlets having sold out-which leads me to believe that I'm not the only one to have had this problem! Russell Hobbs website was hard to find and not very helpful when found! Haven't tried the timer yet and guess it will be a while before I am able to!!

Russell Hobbs 14597 Filter Coffee Maker in Stainless Steel & Black with glass jug
I really am disappointed with this product. It is not as robust as my old Tefal Coffee maker. The glass in the coffee pot is very thin. The filter seems to be very flimsy and the handle on the filter keeps coming off. The lid only opens 90 degrees with a very narrow apperture to fill the reservoir with water, I find this very difficult. Now after only 1 months use it has broken down. The lights come on, but does not heat up. I have been told by Salterns that I have to pay the postage to send it back to be repaired.

I was bought this product as a house warming present. Absolutely loved it as it was so easy to use. However after three months reasonable use the handle actually broke the glass as I was trying to hand dry the jug. Maybe I was being over-zealous in drying (?!) but it's just a bit flimsy.

While the machine makes coffee efficiently, and the digital facility is a useful component, I was particularly disappointed with the lack of measures to indicate how many cups were being prepared on both the caraffe and the machine. I also found the non detachable lid a nuisance but my chief complaint relates to the strong plastic smell and the consequent tainted coffee. This taste has persisted even after several uses and after several washes with bicarb. of soda as advised by customer services. Clearly the wrong use of materials which the company will have to rectify.

Nice machine but it took ages to get rid of the smell/taste of plastic before the coffee became drinkable. I finally washed it through with a solution of bicarbonate of soda. Since then it has been great- quick and makes nice hot coffee.

Decided I wanted a change from the old fashioned ancient machine in the Kitchen so I bought this stylish looking appliance. One or two hiccups which were my own fault for not reading the manual thoroughly. When sorted made nice coffee. Unfortunately spout broke of of the very flimsy carafe when being dried after the third use. Not impressed.
