I am well pleased with this Russell Hobs steam express, it is a well ballanced and designed, the button on top makes it more controlable as in comparison to my old steam iron. the water tank is very well designed also with the facility to view water levels and has a notification sounder when running low. I rate this steam express iron 10 out of 10.

My first steam generator. Very happy with it. Does what it's supposed to and makes ironing a lot easier. Only comment would be about the descaling cartridge. The iron comes with two cartridges. After 3 months of use - 1-1.5 hrs ironing/week, the iron 'indicated' that the catridge needed replacing. Have replaced, but the catridges don't come cheap to replace. Around £10-14 each (Does anyone know of cheaper - can't see these available on Amazon?), so you need to factor this in when buying the iron (same would apply I assume to any other similar iron). The manufacturers could do with mentioning the replacement timescale in their information.

Additional hidden cost of replacing filters,

While this iron is ok (can't beat some of the more expensive steam irons I have previously purchased) BE AWARE that the filters need replacing often (if you live in a hard water area) at a cost of £7 each. There also seems to be only one place to buy replacement and they are continually 'out of stock'. Had I known before I would NOT have purchased this iron.
