Fits 2kg chicken. Have cooked coq au vin, various whole chicken dishes and apple toffee pudding so far. All have worked well and not dried out. Solid cooker, good seal. Chose mainly because of timer, glass lid and large size for 6 people but also because it was priced around a third less expensive than well known catalogue/internet British retailer. Bargain.

Great slow cooker. Been very pleased with it. Just note the timer is for it to switch off NOT on. Produces very tasty food. Just takes a bit of planning as need to prepare food in the morning. I would highly recomend this slow cooker.

I am very pleased with this cooker. It is very easy to use and I have already made a lot of meals in it. I beg to differ with one of the other reviewers who said that the digital controls are overly complicated; in my opinion they are not, and as such, all my dishes have turned out perfectly. It is quite large though (as indicated on the description), and is ideal for a larger family than the one I have, but I expect, as my tiny son gets bigger, it will be a good way to make enough casserole to satisfy a growing boy's appetite!I have not tried cooking beef joints or whole chickens yet, but this cooker would easily accommodate those types of dishes. The glass lid is great so that you can see what is going on without letting all the heat out. It is fairly easy to clean, although the actual crockpot is quite heavy and it would be easy to drop it, especially if you are a bit weedy in the wrist department as I am! My one criticism is that I was expecting to get the usual little cookery booklet with it to give you a few dishes to try and some handy hints, but sadly this wasn't included and so I had to experiment with my own tried and tested stew recipes. This I think is a bit of an oversight on the part of Russell Hobbs but if they want me to write them a little starter booklet I will happily oblige!!

Before making this purchase I read lots of reviews of different makes and found problems ranging from ill fitting lids to burnt food (especially in larger products). I chose this cooker because of it's good size and the digital timer. It has worked out perfectly. We cook twice a week for a hungry family of four (and could easily fit in another 1-2portions). It cooks perfectly with no burning and the timer means even if you are running late it stops when you want it to and when the food is ready. Easy to clean, easy to use, can't fault it in anyway. Highly recommended.

Having read all the reviews for lots of different slow cookers,I decided to go with this one. The price is an obvious positive point, but I'd also read a lot of slow cookers dont have 'an on indicator light' as the outside of a slow cooker gets hot,I felt with two kids(and at least one clumsy adult!!) in the house it was an important feature to deter them from going near. This cooker has a digital display with a clock that counts down as it cooks and a light on to indicate what level of cooking is on,low, auto or high. The auto function is a bonus as it starts cooking high then reduces to low which shaves a couple of hours off the overall cooking time. A previous reviewer has written that the instruction book is hard to understand but I disagree, its quite simple really. It cooks food beautifully,I've used it several times already and cant fault it. I'm really chuffed I chose this one.

This is a really good sized slow cooker. You can cook whole joints of meat in it, and probably a whole chicken, though I haven't done that yet. You can have setting at low or high or auto. Having said that the instruction booklet that comes with it is probably the worst I have ever seen, with little in the way of how to actually use the cooker. I even asked the company for more instructions, but still got a very brief booklet with a few recipes. That is why I only give 4 stars - the instructions were terrible. I bought a slow cooker book afterwards anyway and it is quite simple to use. Just remember not to put too much fluid in as it could get watery. I cooked gammon joint with no water at all on high for about 7 hours - it was delicious, and lovely cold in the fridge to slice for sarnies. I just smeared mustard seeds on the top.
