Designed in house by Russell Hobbs, the Glass Range offers styling previously unavailable for the kitchen and is perfect for the growing number of people around the country, who are now demanding products that will create that all important -"wow" factor in the kitchen.

With a glass body and stainless steel trim, the Glass Four Slice Toaster from Russell Hobbs will quickly become the "toast" of the kitchen.

With an independent two slice operation, you can either make two or four slices of toast at a time and the variable browning control ensures your toast has the correct degree of browning everytime. Neon indicator lights located on the side of the toaster let you see at a glance the level of browning selected. This can be easily altered by the push of a button.

For your convenience, the toaster will even toast frozen bread and has a mid-cycle cancel button should you wish to cancel the toasting process at any time. Additional features include an extra long toasting slot with centering guides and a removable crumb tray for easy cleaning.

I bought one of these just 2 years ago because it looked good and felt as if it was well made. Just out of warranty then the electronic controls failed to work. It will not hold the bread in but if the eject button is held down until the toaster is very hot then it will stay down.The next problem is that it will not automatically eject and will hold bread in until it burns black and presumably catches fire. The 'level of browning' controls do not work. This is the worst product I have owned and would not recommend it to anyone. Look on the internet if you want more reviews which are equally as bad. I thought I was the only person to have these problems but it seems a very common complaint. What a shame that such a great looking product has a 'chip' that lets it down. My experience has stopped me from buying any other products from this manufacturer

It looks good and toasts perfectly everytime, bar the pieces of "Slim Slice" brown bread which tend to get caught on the inside grate instead of popping up when ready. This can't really be blamed on the toaster however as Slim Slice bread is half the size of an average piece of toast.

We have however been using our toaster regularly without any faults, electrical or otherwise. We did adhere to the user manual however, which advises that the toaster be switched off whenever it is not actually in use. Thus we switch it on to make toast and then promptly switch it off again after. Perhaps the electronical components within the toaster just can't handle being permanently "on" all the time.

Other than having to switch the toaster off between toasting, this is a fine product, it looks good in our kitchen and we're enjoying the crumb tray immensley. :)

An Update Which Resulted in this 3 Star Review :
It is now March 2009, we have had our toaster since Christmas 2007... Obviously it has been over a year now, yet our only gripe is that, being a 4 slice toaster, it has two levers - one for just doing two slices (one side) and one for doing all 4 (both sides)... It often refuses to let you put toast down on only one side of the toaster, the lever just keeps springing up again whenever you push it down, but the lever which controls both sides simultaneously, still works perfectly.. figures. No other issues aside from this however and our toast still comes out golden brown.

I've been using one of these for about 3 years now. It toasts evenly on both sides. It has room for two slices from a standard 800 gram loaf. It looks very stylish. Mission accomplished.

I'm sure other models produce toast just as well at half the cost, so if a premium of £25-30 for the snazzy looks is in your budget, go for it.

The only reservation I would have is that Russell Hobbs products as a whole have a less than encouraging reputation for reliability. As in the case of the toaster in my description, getting a reliable device is a matter of chance.
