For espresso and cappuccino lovers around the country, a good quality machine is essential for recreating the delicious rich flavour regularly enjoyed in restaurants and coffee shops, while at home or abroad

The new Russell Hobbs Classic Satin Espresso Maker (Model No. 11823), is a top quality machine, styled in a brushed stainless steel body with 15bar pressure, perfect for producing excellent espresso every time.

Either one or two cups of espresso can be made at any time and you can even choose between having a small cup or larger cup, if you wish to savour the mouth-watering flavour for longer. A brewing temperature indicator light located on the front of the machine, lets you know when the water has reached brewing temperature and the thermostat will ensure that the temperature is maintained. A handy cup warmer is also located on the top of the machine

For something a little bit different, cappuccino coffee is made by topping cups of espresso with hot frothy milk. It may then be sprinkled with powdered cinnamon, nutmeg or chocolate to add the finishing touches. Use the milk frother located on the side of the machine to force steam through cold milk, to convert it into hot frothy milk for adding to the espresso. Alternatively, the milk frother will make hot milk, ideal for those who like hot milk mixed with coffee, or as a bedtime drink

With a large 1.2litre removable water tank for easy filling, the new Russell Hobbs Classic Satin Espresso Maker also comes with both small and large permanent stainless steel filters, coffee tamper and has easy to use electronic controls.

I've owned this machine for about a week now and it makes excellent coffee. As the previous reviews mention the instructions are adequate and the whole thing looks complicated, however after you have used it a couple of times the whole polaver of priming and then producing coffee doesn't take very long at all.

There are a few things to say about the machine itself.

Firstly whilst it is marketed as being able to produce two cups of espresso simultaneously, the practicalities of actually getting two small cups, side by side, actually catching the coffee have so far managed to escape me.

Secondly I drink lots of coffee (and I do mean LOTS of coffee) so the only option I really have for this machine is to make a double espresso for me everytime and then use the frother to froth/warm the milk for a large latte. I use warmed semi skimmed milk in the frother as it gives me better results than full fat milk!

Thirdly you can choose to use either pre ground coffee (the same stuff you use in a cafetiere) of grind your own - the pre ground coffee produces consistently good results, but for that special extra it's worth getting a grinder and finding a decent mix of beans that exactly suits your taste.

I like this machine I'm giving it 8/10

Hard decision to buy this as I really did want the nearest thing to the professional's machine. It lives up to the challenge.
The coffee it makes is excellent.
But, be prepared; you do have to learn how to use it as you do have to prime the machine and the coffeee needs to be properly ground for the job. Neither of these is a problem unless you ignore them. The supplied instructions are OK, (on second or third reading).
The only problem with my machine is that coffee does not come evenly from the two outlets making 2 cups side by side is not therefore an option for me but it is no real setback.
I recommend this machine.

This coffee maker does live up to it's prevous reviews. It is easy to clean and priming is simple and quick. It makes very good coffee and does it quickly and is is very simple to operate.


I have managed to make 2 cups side by side and it worked fine. The only reason that I have not given it the full 5 stars is that there are not many cups that are shallow enough to fit onder the bit that the coffee comes out!! A very minor problem but if you like your latte in a big starbucks style mug I'm afraid it's not going to happen!!

Overall though this is a very impressive machine and well worth the money. I am very satisfied with it.
