3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but expensive? 6 Jun 2005
By A Customer
Perhaps slightly strange looking in the 'flesh'. Quite plastic-y considering the price. The inside is plastic, not steel, which most of the stainless steel style kettles are. This might be bad in the long term, especially if the plastic is leaching nasty chemicals into your water everytime you boil it.

The lid opens via a push button, push the button in and it extends to become knob, with which you can open the lid. The lid opening mechanism is only plastic too, and does not appear very durable. If you are a frequent kettle user maybe you should consider how this lid will cope with regular use. I haven't owned the kettle long enough to say.

Good points - it pours nicely. The water level indicators look to be well designed so hopefully won't clog up with calcium carbonate and stop working, as has happened on other kettles. Despite the plastic it feels well made.

'Bad' points - the footprint of the kettle is ovoid, yet the base is circular. Looks a bit odd. Too much plastic. Will the lid become disfunctional over time? Quite expensive.

Other points - it's a 3kw kettle, so it's going to make more noise than a less powerful model. Do not buy if you are using it somewhere quiet. Like a library.

1.0 out of 5 stars expensive lump of plastic 13 April 2006
I bought this to replace a £10 kettle that i bought in tesco 5yrs ago..it was still looking good and going strong but i have just moved house and wanted a change. This is the biggest waste of money i have ever spent, my biggest concern with it is that it spills water from the spout when pouring -at any angle, i have two young children and im always checking that they are well away from me as it would be easy for them to be scaulded when doing something as simple as pouring a cup of coffee.

The paint has came off round the top of the lid which dosn't fit very well and off the on/off button .The water also lies on the plastic windows that are supposed to let you know the water level which makes it impossable to tell how much water is actually in the kettle ! Kudos..i think not!

1.0 out of 5 stars Kudos kettle problems 8 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I bought the Russell Hobbs Kudos kettle just 6 months ago and allready have found it has started leaking and the silver finish on the lid and on off button is peeling off and looks dreadfull. I bought if because I liked the look and colour of the kettle but unfortunately the quality I have now found is not very good.
