Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Russell Hobbs brand has been synonymous with quality, style and innovation for over fifty years.
Founded in 1952 by Bill Russell and Peter Hobbs, the brand has led the way by introducing products which offer real consumer benefits and technological advancements.
Such is the strength of the Russell Hobbs brand, it is recognised by nine out of ten consumers as a leading small kitchen appliance brand in the UK and has won numerous awards and product accreditations by leading institutes.

With coffee shop chains now on every high street corner and a way of life for many people, the Russell Hobbs Caffe Torino Combi Coffee Maker is the answer to coffee lover's prayers, as it will make filter, espresso or even cappuccino in one handy unit and at the touch of a button.

Forming part of the Caffe Torino range from Russell Hobbs, the Combi Coffee Maker is like having your own coffee shop in the comfort of your own home and is sure to be the envy of your family and friends.

The filter coffee function will make between two and ten cups of delicious filter coffee at once and the hotplate will maintain the coffee at its optimum temperature until you are ready to drink it. Another handy feature is the non-drip valve which prevents the coffee from dripping onto the hotplate for up to twenty seconds, should the carafe be removed before the brewing process has finished.
When the espresso setting has been selected, between two and four cups of espresso coffee can be made at a time. The Combi Coffee Maker also has a frother for making hot frothy milk. Add this to the cup of espresso, and sprinkle with powdered cinnamon, nutmeg or chocolate and you have the perfect cup of cappuccino coffee. For lovers of latte coffee, pour hot milk and espresso into a cup at the same time for a mouthwatering coffee experience.
Additional features include a 1.2 litre capacity, permanent filter and glass carafes for both the filter and espresso options.

1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising, 16 Sep 2007
By G. Lewis (Archway, London, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bought this product from Argos.

It's okay for filter coffee and espresso, but it isn't good enough for any drink that involves milk, which is rather a design fault in a machine that promises lattes and cappucinos.

The problem is the steamer. For whatever reason, it creates a minimal amount of steam, hardly enough to make the milk lukewarm. I've talked to someone who has owned a Russell Hobbs coffee maker before [not this make, though] and she says this is a common fault with their product. She suggested I microwave some milk beforehand rather than use the machine.

Nice one, Russell! Enjoy my money. Hopefully you'll spend it on creating a better product next time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful, 10 Jan 2008

Really, just don't!!

I agree with the previous reviewers, the milk heating system is pathetic, the coffee decidedly mediocre. I was a disappointed recipient of one of these as a Christmas present. It was returned and a full refund given.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works better than fine, great coffee, 5 Aug 2008
Hi,
I felt I should write a review to try to stand by my coffee maker, with an honest review. 4 stars = good, it makes good coffee.
Not too sure why, but I'm having no trouble at all with this coffee maker, either for espresso, filter or frothing and heating the milk via steamer. All I can say is that I have followed the instructions to the letter.
If I were to offer tips, don't wait for espresso to finish before you froth, the pressure will have dropped. Also, as when in Italy, warm the milk you add to filter coffee, say 30secs in the microwave, or use the stream, if you don't mind the froth.
I also believe the single most important thing I did; throw out the M&S coffee my girlfriend bought, and bought a decent quality Italian brand blend.
I did find that I had run water through a few times to lose the metallic tang
The coffee from this will never be as good as a £8000 cafe Gaggia, but no domestic coffee maker ever will be, even a £250 Gaggia.
